Hello All,

I'm building a Dirt Circuit race car using a 1JZ and i'm after a manual transmission. I'm just wondering what my options are and what power they can take.

Thanks,
Dale

Building the chassis from scratch or using an existing frame? Either way, I highly doubt a 1JZ is the most appropriate motor. For power/weight, a 3SGTE is probably going to be your best bet.

Anyway, for a xJZ the main options are:

W58 - will probably blow up if you turbo it, but would be fine for N/A
R154 - huge gearbox, but built for turbo
V160 - even huger gearbox, 6-speed, ridiculously expensive, but also built for turbo

what car u using?

R154 would definately be the easiest. maybe rebuild it if you're making a drag car with huge power

Don't go for the getrag V160, for the effort you would probably be better off getting a Tremec to make something to suit

R154 is often the way to go with 1J...I've rarely seen 1J with a V160/161 attached to them.

that is some impressive build BTW...and I can see you have chosen the W58. Keep us posted.

Back on topic, W58 should be fine as that thing would be super light.
