. The dealer actually gave us the RRP (including all costs which was around $59k) and then circled a $ sign and asked us to put down the figure we wanted. Hubby put down that figure and he took it back to his Manager. Came back to us and said no cant do it for under $50k so we got up to leave then he said he'd try his Manager again and eventually he came back and said they could do it.
Car arrives on 20th August. If car arrives on time I will advise the name of the Dealership.
Didn't get any options as a friend actually does the installs for them so we can get it much cheaper.

Welcome Trina - That would be a 2WD Kulger at that price?

You should not mix RETAIL and FLEET price because there's big difference.

I thought I had put in that is was fleet but when I reread my post I realised I hadn't, hence why I stated it above. I KNOW there is a big difference in price.

Yippeee finally got my KX-S on Saturday and it was well worth the 3 week wait. Noew just have to get the tow-pak fitted, windows tinted and after market stereo/dvd player installed. Have decided on Alpine stereo system which apparently slots straight into the KS-X.
I chose black, all our cars are black and it goes well with my personalised plates.
Ended up getting the best deal from Nunawading Toyota, and I didn't tell them we were entitled to fleet discount until we screwed them down to just over $50K on road.
The other good deal we got was from Wonthaggi Toyota which was (not fleet or ABN discount) was $50,750 On road but we decided to try Nunawading first as it was quite a drive to Wonthaggi. Mentioned fleet discount after and then got the price we wanted $49,800 (paid an extra $100 for the cargo mat)
We found that if you waited until the end of the month the dealerships dropped their prices by approx $2K - other dealerships were roughly $52,500 on road.

Ignore the fleet discount since they are generally 15% better off I was told.
Privately it is about the right mark in Victoria. I am paying a little less but I got it last year as a hot new model. I learnt since then (waiting more shipment for the BMW 135i then I ask for more discount

Just signed this afternoon for my Ex Demo (4,000km) Silver 2008 KX-R AWD 7 seater.

$43,500 drive away (with $3,500 trade-in on'98 Camry) with tinted windows and carpet mats. Just missed a 2007 KX-S AWD with 17,000km for $39,990 (by an hour) last weekend.

My KX-R AWD 7 seater was $41,500 drive away on road at fleet price, which I'm contracted to buy after the 5 year period that I choose.
I was happy with that compared to other quotes I got.
Plus it was a better price than my fleet management people where getting. Which lowers my salary sac further.
Extras went on too which I paid cash for at fleet price outside of the above. Those extras were far cheaper than most posted within the Kluger forum.

Hi I am new here. Didn't know about this forum till today.
We are very close to buying a Kluger Grande AWD. Brother-in-law will get one of the same with slightly different accessories.
Of the few quotes that we got, the best one with the following accessories is $61500 on the road
1) Crystal Pearl
2) Bonnet protector
3) Headlight protectors
4) Mudguards – black (set of 4)
5) Black carpet mats – 1st/2nd rows
6) Alloy nudge bar
7) Parkassist – clearance parking sensors (2 head kit)
8) Parkassist – reverse parking sensors (4 head kit)
Brother-in-law one is $60407 with
1) Crystal Pearl
2) Headlight protectors
3) Mudguards – black (set of 4)
4) Black carpet mats – 1st/2nd rows
5) Parkassist – clearance parking sensors (2 head kit)
6) Parkassist – reverse parking sensors (4 head kit)
Are the price good enough or should I push harder?
After delivery, we intend to add in MotorOne Ultimate Vehicle Protection that would cost $1900.
This include the following
1) Paint protection
2) Enviroshield paint finish
3) Vinyl protection
4) Leather Protection
5) Rust proofing protection
6) Electronic Rust stopper protection
7) Sound deadener spray to underbody of cars
Maybe I should get them to include the protection pack? That might be pushing a bit too hard......
Thanks.

kirby7777

That is some sort of black bitumen or tar spray I think. It is sprayed to the underbody to add a bit more sound proofing. Sound proofing is not that good in Kluger compared to , say, Mazda CX-9.

Well, the sales manager wouldn't move anymore from the original pricing. He showed me on his computer that he is only making eight hundred something dollars out of this deal and the petrol he put in got to come out of that figure too. It might be just a trick and he might get rebate from Toyota or receive payment from elsewhere.
The trade in I got is reasonable for an old bomb ($2000 for a 13 year old Laser Ghia wtih 258000 km on the clock and need new tyres, wind screen & bottom rail of driver seat).
So I signed up thinking that I have done the best that I can with no prior purchasing history from these guys.
Managed to get a Rego number plate protector out of him though.
I would get the X Pack, sound deadener spray and eletronic rust preventer instead of what previously mentioned.

Will prices go up now that the dollar has fallen over 20% to the yen since I bought mine 6 months ago? or are they just making less profit

74 Yen OMFG!
Lucky I got some parts for my RX-8 just in time. I brought something ahead of time (I don't need it at this moment), some spare parts and stuff when it was still 88Yen!
Now nothing until it goes back. I hope not see cheap AUD$ like years before when it is close to 50 cents. And it won't coz there is still a demand of material for projects in which contracts has signed.
1%..... hmmm.
I don't think the price will fall, but the margin will narrow and not much discount will be given now.

This is in Sydney. 2WD models

When I went to look at the Kluger the week it was released last year, I had read somewhere during my research that Toyota Australia had to convince Japan to tool up for a right hand drive model. (The only other version being sold is in the U.S).
I figured that as part of their pitch to Japan, they would have needed to put forward a pretty solid sales projection and so armed with this idea, I put it to the dealer that he would need to come to the party with me if he wanted a sale in the first week.
I wanted the very base model 5 seater 2wd KX-R so he offered a 7 seater for the price of the 5 ($5k discount?) but would only give me the red book price for my trade (a 7 year old falcon with 250,000km). I wasn't happy that this was the best I could get.
During all my research on the web, the ad for Private Fleet kept annoying me so I went to them and said that I wanted another $5k off the bottom line offered by the dealer which I promptly got without them even seeing my trade in! I had to wait about 4 weeks but the savings were worth the wait.
I was very happy as this was the first new car I had ever bought in my 40 years of motoring, so I was pleased with myself.

Hi all, I'm a newbie here.
I am in the market for new Kluger and have found this thread really useful.
I will be purchasing through fleet so I am limited to a max car value which will not exceed the luxury car tax threshold. I wouldn't mind getting the Grande AWD. However, it just creeps over that threshold. The dealer will discount enough for it to qualify but that would mean no extras, like towbar, sidesteps, etc.
So my question is: where is a good place in Sydney to get these fitted aftermarket? I live in the inner west so somewhere around there would be good.
Also, is it cheaper to get them fitted by the dealer as part of a package...I'm assuming it is.
Cheers

Hi Folks,
I'm just finalising my Kluger KX-S purchase though novated lease with fleet discount etc and have come up with the following deal. Just wanted to bounce it off our resident experts to ensure I've left nothing on the table.
I've ordered the following spec:
KLUGER KX-S ALL WHEEL DRIVE
METALLIC PAINT
HEADLAMP COVERS
MUD GUARDS
AERO ROOF RACKS
TOWPACK
CARPET MATS
RUBBER CARGO MAT
Current price I've got it to is $46,600 on road.
How does this compare?
Thanks for any advice,
Hi Folks,
I'm just finalising my Kluger KX-S purchase though novated lease with fleet discount etc and have come up with the following deal. Just wanted to bounce it off our resident experts to ensure I've left nothing on the table.
I've ordered the following spec:
KLUGER KX-S ALL WHEEL DRIVE
METALLIC PAINT
HEADLAMP COVERS
MUD GUARDS
AERO ROOF RACKS
TOWPACK
CARPET MATS
RUBBER CARGO MAT
Current price I've got it to is $46,600 on road.
How does this compare?
Thanks for any advice,
Pete.
I've just put an order for an AWD Grande, novated lease, fleet pricing (woohoo!)
I looked at the KX-S and got a costing with similar options as yours plus side steps, front sensors. I was quoted at total cost of $53,000 (on roads, driveaway)...seems like a great deal you got. Did that include a trade in??
Where from??

Hi Tonester,
I'm not sure which dealer it is yet, but I know it's not Cannon Toyota in Heidelberg. It has all been done through the leasing company (NLC) and I just kept pushing for a deal.
I will update this when I confirm the dealer.
I don't have a trade in.
Pete.

Hi Holmesie,
I just hope it's not too good to be true! I've got the written quote from the lease provider which says quote is valid for 14 days, so I'm busily doing the paperwork right now to lock it in.
I think the dealers must be doing it tough!
Cheers,
Pete.
