Full Version: Legality of Adjustable Coilovers

Sprung Stiff
Gday Gentlemen,
I have been looking around the forums for the legality of Coil Overs in QLD.

Had no such luck in terms of a difinitive answer, so chased Main Roads, the following is what I received:

"Thank you for your email regarding the fitment of adjustable coil over shocks.

Please refer to the attached vehicle standards instruction L1.0 LIGHT VEHICLE REPLACEMENT SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS, it covers requirements for suspension modifications in greater detail then the "all about modification to motor vehicle" brochure.

I understand that the document mainly refers to "air bag" or "hydraulic"
suspension, however the same general requirements and conditions apply to adjustable coil over shocks.

If you require further information regarding adjustable coil over shocks
please do not hesitate to contact the modification help desk on 3253 4851.

Kind Regards,"

The document that is being referred to is attached.

For me it seems a little bit confusing, could I get all your opinions on it and where you think the whole legality side of it actually sits.

Cheers

after reading this i believe that coilovers are fine.

as long as you are not controlling/adjusting the ride height of the car while in motion or when parked, then your suspension mod is fine... providing it does not lower the car any lower than 1/3 of the OEM spec suspension Travel.
