I was under the impression that the LF-A is the replacement for the "Supra" with a Lexus badge.

DJKOR pretty much has it. It'll be a the crash structure for absorbing energy; carbon fibre does a very good job of transfering energy from a crash. Think of the big ball of carbon dust you see after a crash in the expensive racing series, thats the engery, poor explaination I know.
