  1. I got about 60,000 out of the Bridgestones on my AWD. They still had some life left in them too. I happily replaced them with another set of Bridgestones as I was very happy with them and they were reasonably priced.
  2. Sorry you haven't had a response yet, see my input below: 1] The 2nd row - what is the seating split - eg - 50/50, 40/60, 30/70 etc? There are two full size seats and a very small seat in the middle which is only useful to a small child. Really doesn't count as a seat at all. 2] Can 2 baby seats be legally positioned next to one another? Yes, as long as there are appropriate anchorage points for each. In the second row you could have two baby seats in the two main seats, they are both quite large. You could not put one in the middle seat. Back row - pretty sure there are no anchorage points, so you could not legally put baby seats.. 3] With Q2 - if a yes - can another 3rd person still sit in the 2nd row? Not really, only a very small child 4] The 3rd row of seats - are they just one big seat [2 positions together] or 50/50 split? Facelift model (model year 2011+) had split fold 3rd row, but before that they were just one big seat. Have a look at the pics in this listing for my old car and you will see what I mean about the seats. http://www.carsales....~1&sort=default Compare to this facelifted model and you can see the second row is the same, but the back row now has two proper seats and is split fold. http://www.carsales.com.au/bncis/details/toyota-kluger-2012-12176349?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=4294711775%201246%201247%201252%204294962861%204294962773%201216&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~1|Year:2011,Max&sort=default Hope this helps! ;)

    Annoying Rattle

Yes - definately seems to be coming from the seat mechanism but mine is on the passenger side. Sliding the seat all the way forward seems to stop it as well. Oh well, trading in the Kluger soon so not too worried about it any more

    Annoying Rattle

No resolution yet. It gets a better for a while each time they "fix" it but soon returns as bad as ever. I need to have a better look at it when I get some time. I don't think it could be caused by child seat - it seems to be coming from under the seat somewhere. Let us know if you have any luck when you remove the child seats.
  5. Toyota don't make the fuel so even if you use their recommended specification (E10, 95 or 98) they will not be responsible for damage resulting from a bad batch. It can also be difficult to prove that a bad batch of fuel caused your problems so you are unlikely to have any joy with the fuel company either. Lets hope there is no permanent damage. A couple of tanks of good 98 might do the trick!
  6. I always use 98 because it is cleaner and provides better performance. However, as you say E10 is advised as suitable for the vehicle so using it should not affect your warranty. If it is a dodgy batch of fuel that has caused your issue then Toyota are not responsible. I would suggest running 98 (I prefer BP Ultimate) for a few tanks as they suggest - continue using it if you can. It is a few $$$ more but you do find you get better mileage as well, so doesn't work out much more expensive. ;) If the problem continues, definately take it back to the service dept.

    Annoying Rattle

Hi Guys, I have an annoying rattle in the Kluger that sounds like it is coming from the passenger side second row seat. It is a metallic sounding rattle like metal vibrating against metal. Toyota have now had 3 attempts at fixing it including allegedly removing the seat, but it only ever stops for a brief period before being back as bad as ever. Service manager said there are cables under the seat and they fixed it by tightening them. It seems to stop when you hold the metal bar used to slide the seat back and forth but I can't see anything there that looks like it would rattle. Also the cables under the seat don't look like they would make a rattling noise either. Has anyone else experienced this?
  8. We have used the strap on DVD players on the leather headrests for the past 2 1/2 years and they have caused no damage to the leather. The leather is actually pretty hard wearing. I have thought about the built in screens too but just seems like a hassle to pull things apart to connect them up. I know some people here have done it though.
  9. Wow. In about 10 years of Toyota servicing I have never once received or been offered a car wash! Current dealer gives you a voucher for free car wash at the local self-service carwash. I did have a dealer that loved to slop tyre black all over the tyres at every service. It was nasty oily crap and would end up sprayed up in the wheel arches. Had to ask them not to do that...
  10. Did you pay a deposit? If so then it is hard to just walk away. Tell them if it is not delivered within the next 2 weeks you will cancel the order. Point out that you have already waited longer than you were told and they need to do something to make it right. I have a mate that did that. Got sick of waiting and no firm delivery date so he just went to another dealer and bought one off the lot - it was under lease so he did not lose any deposit. Good luck with getting it sorted. I know the waiting is a pain in the a$$.
  11. Rear fan is controlled separately to the front. If there is a big difference between front and rear temperature settings, you can get that happening. I'm more baffled by why when you get into a stinking hot car the climate sets the fan on high with recirculated air and the A/C off I find the air conditioning very effective (including heating) but the automatic climate control is useless.
  12. Another option is to buy an uprated one from Road and Track http://www.roadandtrack.net.au/ Stronger and cheaper! I got my mechanic to do mine as well...
  13. Thanks for your opinion. There is no mention in my post of "flogging" the car. The purpose of the thread was to do with unnecessary driving of new cars by the dealer contributing to higher than expected odometer readings on delivery. I don't see how you would rack up 60km driving on and off a truck. The two other brand new cars I have taken delivery of since (including the Kluger) had much lower kms. And yes I think that the 19 year old apprentices would have enjoyed driving around in a brand new ZZE231 when they had only just been released. It was a Raven Black ZR and looked shmick!
  14. Why not? Best time to do it in my opinion. Get off all the contaminants from shipping/delivery and give a good starting point for shine and protection for the life of the car. I've done it with two new cars now and very happy with how they turned out. Makes ongoing cleaning easier too.
  15. Your "special shampoo" is just carwash. I got that with my Celica as well. Not nearly as good as Meguiars, Mothers etc.. In fact I asked the dealer if I should come back for more if the shampoo runs out and he just told me to buy some carwash Good idea to make a sign to stop the dealer washing your car - luckily they have never tried it with mine.
