Hi yes it happened on my 100 series, it sounded just like a slipping fan belt , so checked and changed all belts but no differance. Have a freind with a 80 series and he had same prob , his mechanic diagnosed a tiny leak in the turbo gasket, changed the gaskets and all ok . I didn,t change mine as I traded the vehicle in on a 200. I suggest taking it to a proffessional turbo centre and let them listen , if it sounds like a screaming fan belt then let them know that it may be a leaky gasket , but I would get it fixed. Hi everyone, my 100 series turbo diesel has started whistling heaps louder than usual at about 2000rpm, it doesnt seem to have lost and power, but when i reach around 2500-3000rpm it really starts to scream. I have tried to listen to it while the car is not moving but it doesnt seem to do it. I went and saw my mechanic and he said it doesnt seem like it is anything to worry about. But it seems strange to me that all of a sudden its starting to whistle with out anything being wrong with it? Has anyone else heard of this happening with another toyota? If so how can i fix it? and should i be driving it? any help would be much appreciated! Cheers
