  1. I'm looking at installing a 12V power socket in the boot of our 2014 Camry Atara S and just trying to work out the best way to get power in there. I'm thinking of picking up power from the center console cigarette lighter socket and running the cable around the side kick panels into the boot and mounting a surface mount cigarette socket under the parcel shelf. Main thoughts for picking up power here is that its switched on/off with the car ignition and is 'fused' on the correct fuses for future fault diagnosis etc. Of course I'll pop a inline fuse on the run to the rear of the car etc. But was mainly wondering if there was any easier place to pick up power before I start to pull the car apart! Thanks
  2. So no Camry Hybrid owners could check their car? :( Anyhow the answer to this is yes it should have a light. At the last service I got them to check it, and they found that the cable was't plugged in!!!!! So all fixed now.
  3. Well the car went in for its 15k service and I raised the issue of the rattle again with them. This time they seemed to think that they found the fault. 3 of the clips holding the door panel on had been deformed. They replaced these. So far so good with the rattle, but I've only been in the car for about an hour or so. Fingers crossed they fixed it this time!
  4. Anyone know why the 2012 Camry Hybrid L1 (base model) can get front parking senors as an option, but the L2 (luxury model) can't? I find it a little odd that the L2 comes with a camera and rear parking sensors, with no option for front sensors!? The dealer tells me its the wiring loom, but it seems strange that they would do a special loom for the L2 camry and forgot to put front parking senors in as an option!? When the base L1 loom as it.
  5. I've got a 2012 Hybrid HL and noticed the same thing as well, my findings might be related to your 2011 model.... I put it down to the heater vent pipes running through the console for the rear vents. I worked this out as I have dual climate, so tweaking the temp on each side of the car adjusts the temp of the console. Being its 'winter' atm, the heater is running so I think you are noticing its warming up the console. If I flick the temp right down on the passenger side, that side of the console gets cold, while mine says hot. The same if I ramp the temp right up, that side gets hotter than mine and vice versa on the drivers side if I ramp the temp up or down! So seems its just routing of the climate pipework that is causing it. I do agree, it can get very warm!!
  6. Thanks guys for the tips. I know rattles are hard to track down and not the easiest to find. Was hoping someone else has been down this path before me and knew the 'fix'. I'll check the globebox out today and see how it goes. I might even remove it from the car to rule it out!
  7. Got a 2012 Camry Hybrid HL and just wondering if there should be a light for the gear selector in the center console? Not sure if it doesn't have one or the globe is blown. Thanks
  8. Lots of complaints online about the rattle, seems the dealer over there can fix it and there is a TSB out for it, but I can't find a copy. Some say its a plastic sheet in the door, some say its a door clip as per the video below the poster says the dealer determined that the sound was coming from a loose door panel clip. In this video, the sound sounds 100% like the sound I'm hearing in my door. but of course its a video that shows the sound in the USA camry for the drivers door, its funny that the same door in Australia has the same fault. The video shows the sound best between the 15-25 second mark. While not major, its very noticeable when you are driving once you hear it and I don't really think that for a brand new car I sound have to pull the door part to fix a problem. Do you know of the process in removing the door trim?
  9. Yeah I've taken everything I can out of the car and its still there. I've tried pressing on the door panels, but can't seem to find a spot to make it stop. The only thing that can sometimes make it stop, as crazy as it sounds is to put the window down and up again! A quick google found that the US camry had a similar problem on the 'drivers' door aka our passenger door. But I would have thought this issue would have been fixed for our builds. I didn't really want to pull my brand new car apart to fix it!
  10. Anyone else noticing a rattle in the passenger door of the 2012 Camry Hybrid HL? As always when it was at the dealer they cant find the 'issue' and took them for a test drive and of course it didn't rattle, but now that I've left its rattling again. Sounds like its coming from within the passenger door.
