  1. I am thinking about selling my 2007 ATX Aurion in good condition. Regular service and has approximately 110 on the clock. What would be a fair price for it in Melbourne. Thanks
  2. Did you manage to resolve the issue with the engine light? I have exactly the same issue where the CEL comes on and will be taking it to a mechanic but wanted to know what your issue was and how was it resolved. Thanks
  3. Correct, they all do using the buttons below the clock as mentioned above. You can set 2 or 3 different ones, I dont find the controls all the intuitive or conveniently located on the dash but its better than nothing.
  4. One more question please, if I was jump starting the car using a charger with a start function on it. Do I connect the +ve lead to +ve battery terminal and -ve lead to -ve terminal or do I connect the negative to the strut mount? Thanks
  5. Hi I have been away for nearly 3 weeks and I just found out this morning that my car wont start. The remote control doesnt unlock the car so I am pretty sure its the battery that needs to be recharged. I am going to ask my neighbour later today to jump start it, just wanted to check if there is something that I need to be careful with when jump starting it or if there is something that I should know. Thanks :)
  6. Hi I was talking to my mechanic about my next service and he was telling me that he is planning on inspecting the transmission oil!! I mentioned that its a closed system but he said thats true but there is a bolt or something to the side that you undue to top it up and that there is a sump plug that you use to drain the excess oil. I have read a few places here on this forum that you shouldnt touch the transition oil so I am not sure if I should let the mechanic (who seems to know what he is talking about) touch it or ask him not to do anything. My Car is ex-rental having the major 90k service done soon. Let me know what you think and thanks for the advice :)
  7. Which Oil do you buy from the we http://www.performancelub.com/ and how much do you buy per service? also which filter do you get from HK?Lastly the parts that you get from Ebay do you just go by part number or what do you search for? Oil is Mobil 5w-30 EP for $12 a bottle. You only need 6 bottles. Just search ebay yourself for the filters. Thanks for the information, one last question, how often do you service the car? is it every 15,000 miles as the Oil says or do you go by the book which is approximately every 10,000 KM? As I can see that it gets expensive if you are changing the oil every 10K and using this expensive oil.

  9. Hello again Really appreciate the comments and the feedback. I bought the following parts from Toyota, I am going to list them with their parts numbers as it may help someone else in the future who is in the same situation so all of these are genuine toyota parts Note that prices are exclusive of GST Engine Air Filter: 1780131120 - $43.14 Aircon filter: 8713906050: $31.50 Oil Filter: 0415231090: $19.32 Break fluid 500 ml bottle: 0882380080: $8.96 per bottle I also bought the 5w-40 penrite from SCA to use. I have my spark plugs on order so as soon as they arrive I will take the car and get it serviced.
  10. Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. Just a question on oil, I see you are using 5w-40 I thought for the Aurion a 5w-30 is whats needed? or am I wrong? I dont know much about oil so excuse the ignorance. I also read somewhere else that it needs approx 6 litres of oil? is that right? would a 5 L oil be enough or do I need to buy 2 of them and keep the rest for next time? Lastly the silliest question, but I do want to confirm I only need 6 spark plugs is that right? I do remember a mate who had a 4 cylinder car but needed 8 spark plugs as it was DOHC or something like that. Thanks for the replies :)
  11. Lol, its a screen name I am not a real doctor and yes I try to save where I can there is nothing wrong with that ;) thanks for the replies especially the one above, very helpful, any more suggestions I would love to hear them.
  12. Thanks Jeff, any experience buying from ebay? I just looked at oil filters as an example and this is what I found but I have no idea if this is better than supercheap or not http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_nkw=Toyota+Genuine+Oil+Filter+Kit+04152+31090+Lexus+RX300 would love to know what other people think :)
  13. Hi all Apologies if this has been answered before. I am interested in finding out what parts people use and where do you source them from. Eg what Oil do you use and where do you think is the cheapest place to get it. Same thing for spark plugs (originals or after market), oil filter, air filter etc etc. I am trying to find out what people use and how much these cost to save money on the next service so I can get these parts and give it to the mechanic as opposed potentially using lower quality parts for higher price. Any help is appreciated :) Cheers The Mad Doc
  14. Thank you to all that contributed so far but special thanks goes to Noodle Boy and Jeffy for their recommendation. Lalor would be reasonable close to me as I am in the outer northern suburbs but might try C&D motorworks as it sounds like Jeffy's had first hand experience with them. I might also ring both and ask for a price and see who would do it cheaper and decide that way. There is also who has availability on the weekend so I can drop it off and Sat and pick it up later or just wait for it. Please feel to provide more recommendations I should have said that I would rather not go to ultratune or Kmart as I would rather go to an independent which might also work out a bit cheaper :)
