  1. My 2000 ZR Celica intermittently misfires, or drops in revs slightly when trying to cruise at a constant speed. I have just had the car seviced again and I asked my mechanic to have a look at it but the problem continues to occur.
  2. Yes, now that you've mentioned it, they replaced the fuel filter that's inside the fuel tank, the air filter and checked the throttle sensor. The car has done about 170 000 kms.
  3. I had some problems early this year with accelerator hesitation, so I took it to my mechanic. They changed the spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body and I can't remember what else they did. That worked for the hesitation but not for the cold start.
  4. I have a 7th gen 2000 automatic celica. On start up, the car has to be warmed up for a couple of minutes before taking off. If you take off before that, the car is extremely sluggish and non-responsive when pressing the throttle. It seems as if there is no choke or there is little to no fuel getting to where it needs to get to. This something that seems out of place for a modern car. Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem could be?
  5. It doesn't hesitate on acceleration, just mainly on cruising at 60km and when you let off the accelerator slightly to stay on the speed limit.
  6. I have a 2000 Celica that intermittently misfires when cruising at 60 km/h. Now, this doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it feels as if the car is heaving. When this suddenly occurs, it pushes you forward slightly as the car slows then the car simply picks up speed again. On occasions I have also spotted the taco needle flicker as this misfire occurs. I had a lag problem repaired recently in which the mechanic replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the injections and cleaned the throttle body. The lag/hesitation is repaired but this new annoying problem has popped up. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks for all the advice. I had already taken up the slack in the throttle cable and and cruise control months ago and that fixed a little bit of the lag. Anyway, I took the car to the mechanic and you guys were mostly spot on. They replaced the spark plugs, the fuel filter and cleaned the throttle body. It must have been the problem because the car is now running like a dream. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to get it looked at. Cheers!
  8. Hi, I'm new to the club and am just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have a 7th Gen Celica and have had issues with acceleration hesitation since I bought it. The lag/hesitation usually occurs when I put my foot on the gas from idle and the engine pauses before the revs increase. It is extremely annoying and somewhat dangerous when trying to enter round-a-bouts etc... Has anyone experienced this with their Celica and is there a solution to the problem?
