  1. it was real dirty and it was a touchless one so its should be ok.
  2. Hi everyone I came across a situation today which I'm not sure if I've handled correctly. Keen to get your input and happy to take criticism if you think I should have done it another way. So I went to a Coles Express with a car wash machine. There were 4 cars lining up to use it. So I thought to save some time, I just drove up to the end of the queue, stopped the car and went to the shop to get a car wash ticket. As I got out of the car, another car pulled up behind me, saw me get out, and realised that I didn't have a car wash ticket. The driver then started shouting abuse at me for lining up at the car wash without a ticket. I said there are 4 cars in front and they are unlikely to move before I came back with the ticket. So what difference does it make to you? then I walked into the shop to get my ticket and a couple of drinks. More abuse followed on my way back to the car. Obviously, the guy felt very strongly that I should not queue up at the car wash machine without a ticket. I didn't think I did anything wrong, but I just copped the abuse and walked back to my car. What do you think? is it alright to start queuing at the machine when there are 4 cars ahead? Keen to get your thoughts.
  3. when I switched to the michelin tyres, I was considering also switching to 16 wheels. The toyota guy said it's not recommended, gave me some reason which I've forgotten now, sounded legit at the time. I think overtime i've gotten used to the harshness, but certainly notice a difference when I'm driving other cars.
  4. Hi all This is not so much a review but a few observations from an owner for the benefit of anyone who maybe interested. My car has traveled 50,000 km now. In that time it has been problem free. Recently I went on a road trip with an European car with a 2.5L turbo diesel engine. About 900km return, mostly highway both cars fully loaded with people and luggage. Both cars were fueled and refueled at the same time at the same service station. The Camry was slightly better fuel wise. I spent $72 dollars whereas the other car spent $75. Overtaking on highways, with a fully loaded car, was a piece of cake. Only gripe with the road trip was a relatively small boot compared to the European boot. It was still ok, we fit a portacot, 5 bags, a medium size esky, and various bits and bobs, but loading the car was a strategic exercise. Managed to fit most things in but had to do without the pram. I changed the tyres to Michelin primacy. In the wet of the recent storms, they had really good grip. But with the eco mode off, it can get a bit hairy, so eco mode recommended in wet weather. Again the the storm, the side mirrors can get a bit hard to see. The blind spot monitor becomes invaluable. Had a puncture last month. Changed the tyre by myself and had it repaired for $33 by jax tyres. Noticed the spare tyre also had an alloy wheel. I don't think there's much difference between premium fuel and normal unleaded. So I go for 91 unleaded where I can get it, and e10 otherwise. Sometimes I put in some 98 good stuff, just to mix things up a bit. That's pretty much it for now.
  5. What does a Camry Hybrid owner get excited about? A new article appearing on the net reviewing the Camry Hybrid of course! Here's an update review from CarAdvice. I think it's the first time someone has described the HL's ride as being "harsh". http://www.caradvice.com.au/267223/toyota-camry-hybrid-review-2014/
  6. depending on the brand of child seat the strap will go over or around. I have a Safe n Sound fitted in the middle seat and the strap on that one goes around the headrest. I had a another brand before that had a centre strap so it would have to go over. let me know how you go, because I'll need to do that soon as well. I'm debating putting them both on the outside passenger seats, or one in the middle and one on the left. some photos of how you eventually do it would be great. Thanks.
  7. Hi all I put my car in for service today and they found a leaking radiator. They asked me to take it back within 3-4 weeks to get it repaired under warranty. They don't know how it's happened, but lucky I went for a service when I did because I was planning on going to Cooma in early October, I was thinking of servicing after the trip. Anyway, I've never had a leaking radiator before. It can't be common for a car under 27K? On the positive side, the brake pads are at 90% front and rear, and everything else is fine. they did a a/c filter treatment thing and the a/c is now slightly noisier, but supposedly the air quality is better. I've booked it in for the repairs early next week. Will keep you posted.
  8. Hi all I put for car in for service today and asked the technician about tyre pressures. He seems to think that 33 is too low for the camry. he suggested I put it up to at least 38 and put up with the suspension. I'd rather wear out the tyres quicker I think. more on the service in a new thread.
  9. This is strange. When I was test driving before I purchased, both times I just drove the H as the dealer didn't have an HL demo. Both times I deliberately ran over pot holes and speed humps to see how it would react and I was satisfied. I actually thought the car was very comfortable. On the HL it feels like a completely different car. My brother in law is looking to buy a hybrid camry (after my raving on about the car) so I'll go test driving with him as well.
  10. Thanks coolscan Wow so much information. I just spent the better part of the afternoon reading all the talk. looked up and it's past 5pm already.
  11. Hi all I'm a new owner of a Hybrid HL (and new member of the club) and naturally, still in the honeymoon period and reading everything there is to be read online about the car. I have a question for all camry hybrid or toyota hybrid owners, that is, do you ever achieve full charge in the battery? The most I seem to get is one bar from full charge but 95% of the time it's 2 bars from full or less. Just wondering if anyone has a quick answer. Thanks and have a great weekend.
  12. that is a shame as my plan was the keep this car for as long as possible. Thanks for letting me know.
  13. Hi coolscan I'm a new owner of a Camry Hybrid HL and am also feeling the bumpiness. I have read the whole thread and have reduced the pressures to 33 all round which helps slightly. However, I would like to see it improved even more. I was wondering if you did eventually change your rims to 16" and whether there was improvement. I'm tempted to go down this path rather than tampering with the suspension, but I don't want to spend a heap then find the improvement to be insignificant. Thanks.
