I have an 06 SR5 dual cab 3.0l 4x4 and other than the knock ive listed it is great, excellent on fuel, quiet, very comfortable and plenty of power. off road its dream to drive.
  2. you can purchase the top o ring and shaft seal from any toyota dealer as seperate parts. coventrys diesel section will sell the parts at a fraction of the price the toyota dealers do. from memory they are about $4.00 for the top cover o ring and $5.00 for the shaft seal. make sure you mark the shaft postion to the lever to make sure it goes back in exactly the same position. if you havent done the job before it might pay to take into a workshop who has, as it is a bit tricky. They should only charge you about an hours work to do the job on the vehicle. also check that the pump doesnt leak from the o rings on each side of the pump. if the one on the block side is leaking the pump will have to be removedr
  3. Belt should be replaced at 100000klms, you should also replace tensioner and idler pulleys, and it is a good idea to replace cam and crank seal. You can purchase a kit from repco, coventrys or most parts shops that contain all you need. check the crank and cam shafts for wear under the seals (ie groove) you may need to speedi sleeve the shafts if they are worn. to speedi sleeve the crank you will need to be carefull and reverse the sleeve (ie fit it the other way round) to get it to fit.
  4. Hi Guys, Hope someone can help me with this problem. I have a 2006 Hilux 4x4 dual cab fitted witha 1kd common rail injection system. At approx 6000 klms it developed an engine knock between approx 1200-1800 rpm. It is real bad when cold and under load but still audilble when at operating temp.( it sounds like a diesel knock) I have taken it back to the dealer and they diagnosed a diesel knock and fitted new injectors. That did not fix the problem. they said there were no fault codes recorded. They now want the vehicle for a few days to carry out further tests but i am worrried the really dont know what the problem is and it is just a fishing exercise and just trial and error. the vehicle has now travelled 11000 klms and the knock is getting worse. Has anyone had this problem or any advice as to who to ask Cheers
