  1. Hi Joe I didn't listen to it on the video but it seems to me you may have urethane bushes installed at some stage. In particular if you find some bushes which are not black. Just love the suggestion of the old mobile phone… xc
  2. My suggestion is ot contact Al Tune (I think is the name of the business). He is at Bardwell Valley and works economically. My reference is because he got my 4AGE competition car flying and it didnt cost me a ship-load. I only have Al's number as 0499 087 772. Tell him Mr Wayne sent you. I hope you have the success i have with Alex. :-)
  3. Hi guys I must replace my clutch. I'm doing hill climb work which is obviously hard on a clutch. I want to go up in durability and I don't think the heavy duty would be appropriate. Or would it? In the Exedy range there is an 'SO' but I don't yet know the cost of it. I would appreciate any advice, but please be conscious that I am on a budget. Any other recommendations on brands please? Also, I want to use an off-the-shelf lighter flywheel, can anybody give me recommendations on aluminium vs Chrome Moly or other please? Thx Wayne
  4. Thanks Matt Couldn’t find the PM option and following Post Options I lost the draft so here goes again… Firstly, everything is standard and by shifting the bolts I now have 1 degree negative on all 4. In competition yesterday (on 14” Advans) under hard braking then a tight turn I was consistently lunging forward & lifting the inside rear wheel (like Minis do) – scary feeling! Talking this morning with a mate who races a rear wheel drive car he thought this occurred from the suspension being too stiff as he is wheel spinning out of tight turns on South Circuit (no LSD). I’m unsure which suspension element to improve is best… I’m liking the idea of AE101 coil overs assuming a heavier car and hence heavier springs(?) I don’t want to lower the car, I fitted up a second set of wheels with 205/55/R16 and under load was just scraping the tyres on the guards. I want to maintain height but may have to go to a lower profile after sorting the suspension. As to uprated sway bars over the standard on the car I wonder if it wouldn’t accentuate the lifting of the rear – your thought appreciated. Thanks Wayne
  5. MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS - THANKS. Funny thatthe plate says AE92 i subsequently found the VIN has AE93 in the long number. Go figure... Appreciate the help and Red Book lead. None of this changes the car - love it! Cheers Wayne
  6. MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS - THANKS. I booked the car into Selby's before i got the Peders recommendation and they are going throughfor bushes it right now & wheel alignment to start with. It needed a rego check anyhow. Car gets its first event Sunday week, then SuperSprint later in the month. I'll get the feel of it and come back to the posts then. Again - thanks... Wayne
  7. Hmmm... 71 views and nobody can help? Is the question too hard?
  8. Well I am amazed that after 55 visits at this question not one member can contribute any information!
  9. I'm referring my GTi as AE93 while the plate actually says AE92, yet it is a genuine GTi. I have read some SX & GTi's are AE92 but want to know from you blokes 'in the know'. Appreciate your help...
  10. Inviting advice on improving suspension handling on my 91 model GTi please. I'm thinking of taking the car to Selby's & getting advice on handling improvements, yet I realize the forum members have been there & done that specific to the AE93. BTW, I'm referring the car as AE93 while the plate actually says AE92, yet it is a genuine GTi. I have read some SX & GTi's are AE92 but want to know from you blokes 'in the know'. 'Ll make a separate post on this topic.
  11. Just like some advice on ow to set up negative camber to the front & at how far in degrees you thn need to adjust castor - if that is possible. Appreciate any advice...
  12. If I buy replacement dimple & slotted rotors will I need to change the calipers to accomodate any extra width? Front? Rear? Appreciate comments...
  13. Selbys to the rescue $175 for two kits does all the rear suspension. Toyota genuine supplies the lower rear arm complete at $270 a throw. Steering vagueness fixed.
  14. i went to change rear left wheel last nt and found when gripping at 9 & 3 O'clock there is about 5mm of lateral movement. No wheel bearing noise. i suspect this is the bushes in the control arms. this may explain the vagueness in the steering? my first question out there is about driving safety. if i can control the car ok, is it otherwise safe? thanks in anticipation of your help and comments. Rgds Wayne
