  1. Does anybody know if a 2016 Tailgate will fit onto a 2012. ???? 2012 is a SR5 if that makes any difference.
  2. I recently enquired about getting reversing sensors (bumper bar) installed on a 2012 Hilux with a chrome rear bumper, and was told that because of the chrome bumper somehow interfering with the signal, the installer said he wont install any chrome bumper reversing sensors any more. Does anybody have any sensors on a chrome bumper, and do they work. ???

    Hilux Key

Thanks for that. I ended up getting one from the local locksmith for $240.
  4. Does the new model Hilux Diesel have this setup ???? The old model Jaguars ( 1960's and 1970's) had adjustable shims, and you cant get much higher lift camshaft than that
  5. Noisy Tapetts. The 1KD -FTV does not have easily adjustable tappets, hence its major to set tappets. Most new vehicles have hydraulic lifters, but not the Hilux. They have Cam Followers, that cannot be shimmed, to adjust the tappets, you have to check the clearances and then purchase the correct size cam follower. To me, that's a MAJOR fopar by Toyota, what were they thinking.

    Hilux Key

I have phoned the dealer and they want $345 for another key. Thats including cutting and programming BUT they will cut and program for $90 if I supply the key. I can get a uncut key and guts for $90 on ebay, but I have to open my existing key and see what number is on the chip. My problem is; I dont want to experiment with my last working key, and I cant really see how to open it up. I can see 1 only small (about 2mm diameter) hole in the plastic body of the key but that looks like some "reset" button. Can anybody advise the procedure to open the key up.

    Hilux Key

OK I have tried searching this subject on this forum with no success. I require a replacement key with a working remote for my 2012 Hilux SR5 Is the overpriced dealer key my only option on this. ???
