  1. How much do you think haggling could knock off the new car price? My guess it's its better to wait until the end of the month (sales targets to be met) or is that an urban myth? Or similarly waiting until the end of the year to get the best deal?
  2. How can I cut dealer delivery charges and get the BEST price on a new 2.8l PRADO? The dealer delivery charges, and price in general of a new prado is off-putting to say the least. How can I get the best deal possible with out all the silly haggling? I've had a long history with Toyota (2008 Kluger Grande at the moment - 2nd one, plus a 2012 Corolla sports sedan). but it seems this loyalty counts for nothing. I walked into my local dealer yesterday for a test drive, and it was like they didn't know me from bar of soap, after years and years of buying new cars from them, and servicing. I feel an end to a long relationship is about to end. Looking forward to test driving the new GLC, and the VW Elements. Bye bye Toyota :-(

    2016 Prado

Just went for a test drive in a 2016 GLX yesterday. Engine and transmission vastly better than the previous model. But still basically like a truck. I was thinking of buying one, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Why? 1. The cost. Way too expensive. In particular the dealer and delivery charges are ridiculous. And on top of the Recommended retail Price. Heavens above - this is on top of the RETAIL price. Retail is supposed to cover it. So, I'm waiting...what for you ask: MERCEDES GLC (same price, 100x better), TOURAG ELEMENTS (same price, 100x better).

  6. Hello Men - I'm back. Getting similar figures from our new black Grande (superb vehicle incidentally). This is achieve in city driving by consciously driving conservatively, using Caltex Vortex.

    Kluger Price

Hi! Good topic! We paid 64,800 OTR with rear sensors, rear cargo mat, side rails, floor mats, and street legal tint on front side windows. It's eboney in colour. Order Dec, Est. Delivery Mar. Haggled for an hour or so with the fleet manager. It's a private purchase - tried to get a fleet discout out of him (the fleet manager) but no way Jose. Absolutely no way can I imagine buying one for $57K. I think the dealers can knock a bit off the 66K once you've decided to buy. I may have got another $1K or $2K off if I had of been a bit more cunning and persistent with the dealer. eg. I'd love to have got the price down to $64,800, then said "give me a ring if you can do it for $63K, and walk out. (Isn't hind-sight wonderful)

Web tracking facility? Hi, Thanks for your interest and your reply. Customers who place an order for a new Toyota have access to Customer Order Web Tracking. Your dealer should provide you with a User Code and Password to access this facility via the internet. This information is sent to you via a letter in the post, shortly after signing the sales contract. Got to www.toyota.com.au, and click on the Track my new Toyota link near the bottom left hand corner. Log in using your given User Code and password, Agree to the disclaimer, and you can view the status of your order. Perhaps go back to your dealer and inquire about accessing the facility if you did not get a letter. The user code is your customer order number, and the password is supplied by Toyota.

Thanks your your interest and reply. My Wife chose Ebony (black). I'm acutely aware of all the pro's (e.g. just looks great!!) and cons (hot; hard to keep clean??) of black, but my darling Wife insisted on black this time. (Our current Kluger CVX is white - I got to choose the colour last time) Any one have any experience or opinion on black? Is it really hard to keep clean? Never owned a black car befor ein my life.

Congrats Nice work! What Colour? Now I feel really bad. Oh what a (I got done) feeling! The drive away price I got, after 1 hour of haggling, was 64,800 (with rear parking sensors and side bars, and cargo mat) No front sensors, no tow pack, no roof bars. I feel like I've been had. :( And it's status is still only "On Order" after one month of waiting. On my contract of sale, est. Delivery date is Jan 08. I was told realistically, that meant March 08. Now, where's my valium?
