Back on topic, the part price really isn't an issue, it just seems like a fairly nasty job to replace that line on an Aurion. The Kluger may be easier due to having more workable room at the side of the engine.

A mechanic would charge you a fortune for that job.

Agreed the Kluger does not look too hard if you have ramps you can access fairly well from underneath.

Would you mind telling me where to buy the metal oil cooling pipes? Your post said they costed you $45 but that was a few years ago.

Appreciate your advice on this.

Hay guys, I haven't read the entire forum so hope I'm not repeating the question. 

I've just had a pin hole happen in my 2007 Aurion, seen and felt it spraying.

Has anyone had a problem with the dealer dodging the issue somehow and not covering it? Towing, parts and labour etc.

Just a little sceptical on things sometimes and if it's touch and go I could always get the parts and have a crack myself.

The rear VVTi oil line is not covered by Toyota Australia. I believe that back in 2009 or so there was a limited period "customer service replacement"[not a recall] to either replace the rubber hose mid-section with an upgraded specification rubber hose or replace with the full metal line.

DJKOR did a very useful tutorial on replacing this rear VVTi oil line. I found it to be a very frustrating task to do because of the limited space and having to remove the power steering pump to access the lower bolt for the oil line. You will definitely need a good 10mm or 12mm ring spanner with a decent amount of offset to be able to remove the oil line cover on the side of the engine.

It's a 10 year old hose, granted there were issues, but I highly doubt any dealer will offer a warranty on it due to age.
