A-ha moment as I realised my guages needed one of these to keep in place.. 1DIN radio bracket/holder.

1390173018149_zps3edbqufl.jpg

Realised the bracket was mm's too wide.. needed to cut the bracket in half and rejoin it, cable ties keeping it in place.

Tabs on the sides of the bracket brilliantly keep the guages from falling back

Switch installed and (+) wires connected

1 of 3 connected!

20140120_142236_zpssqzihrly.jpg

dont know what happened with this pic...

but the sensor wires for the fuel/air gauge and the water temp guage.. all the other wiring is in place which means I shouldnt have to remove the dash for any reason. the guages are grounded and powered. these 2 wires are all that needs to be connected to complete the install. Poked these wires through the firewall with an old metal coat hanger.

Had to connect the fuel/air gauge to the O2 sensor.. was a case of guessing which 1 of the 4 wires coming out of the sensor should I tap into? Turns out it was the black wire... 1st wire I tried.

I was hoping to have all 3 working before my holidays end but the radiator sensor adaptor is still in the mail, which sucks because the temp gauge is the one I needed most out of all three gauges. The cube only has a blue light and a red light to indicate the temp of the engine so the temp gauge is important.

It has been very interesting to see what drains the battery when I use things like the lights, auto windows etc.

As for the Gauges... all are functional... but I can see why they were the cheapest on ebay. The LEDs fitted in them arent reliable. All 3 of them have at least 1 of the LEDs malfunctioning.. in daytime its hard to see but at night, the LEDs that do work make it possible to see the temp at night.

The horn was the last mod... done last month.

I scored some satin black vinyl wrap and put it to good use on my dash..

After much wasted wrap.. even when done well, when the car got hot inside, it tended to wrinkle up. Will respray it eventually when Im bothered.

Started off with a awd Tamiya TT01D with skyline shell... too big to use as is.. but there exists a conversion kit which I bought quick smart to get the cube going.

3 racing conversion kit

ad_1396093896092_zpsap6jctmf.jpg

I used most of the existing bits from the TT01D and substituted some with the bits in the conversion kit for a smaller wheelbase
