Toyota 4y performance

Hey guys,

I Need help with performance mods for Toyota 4y, can't seem to find anything on the net about them at all, it will not be required for 4x4 but im in dire need for help

My current engine is a 3y that has done 540 thousand km and it's an amazing engine but it's time to lay it to rest, so I have splashed out and bought a brand new complete 4y.

The cam I'm thinking of going is the 285C solid camshaft offered by tighe camshafts, yes I said solid and yes it is a Holden 6 profile, the total lift is .495" and standard is .360" which means a total increase of .135" which I'm hoping will be exactly what I'm after in performance and sound, what's everyone's thoughts on this camshaft?

Okay now from my few short years on this planet so far from what I have learnt is you can't do one thing to an engine without matching everything..

So with that camshaft I'm required to do some porting to the head, I have little practical experience with engines and would like to know how much to port it out and what not

Also with the head work how much would be recommended to shave off the entire head, and what compression will it give me? And what compression should I aim for?

The next thing is valve springs, how big? Anyone done it before? Will I need some made up or will another engines suit?

Anither question is dual side draft carburettors, I don't wanna hear anyone saying efi is better or efi is the way to go.. I want carby

So has anyone done it before? Is there a manifold for sale for 2 x side draft dellorotos or webbers? Has anyone had any success with dual side draft carbys on this engine? What's the performance increase like?

Now lastly is the flywheel, I have noticed the 4y flywheel is rather large and heavy

I would like to get it machined, by someone who knows what their doing ofcourse, have it balanced and what not

is it worth the increase in acceleration?

Okay so that's what I have so far, just trying to get a lot of information on this engine, I am a young bloke and I love my hilux but I really would like something wicked at the end of this, I'm not hoping for anything rediculous but an increase from 90hp to 150 should be sufficient, so please guys comment if you have experience with this engine or if you have your own build like this, or if you know of another thread that covers some of this :)
