Recommended Posts

Mods can move this if they feel necessary.. and sorry Toyota Aus.. but I kinda got over having to pay the premium :P ...

Get part numbers from http://www.toyodiy.com/

Plug those part numbers into http://www.amayama.com/

Get approximate delivery dates and pricing ... always on time, quick to respond and keep you update with your deliveries..

How do I know? here's how:

I've replaced nearly every clip/screw in my interior using this service.. and I'm just working through the suspension bits now..

I made this guide for fellow JZX'ers but I don't see why you can't utilize it for other Toyota models too.. Obviously below example is with a JZX100

Step 1:
How the hell do I even know what car part number I need? - REALLY EASY... there's a wonderful website called Toyodiy.com

You can create an account, the only reason I created is because I got sick of having to specify what kind of car I have each time.. when you have an account made, you can select and store your car model. It'll make sense as you read on ..

Simple to the point site as you can see in the picture below - we want parts, so lets select 'Enter parts catalog'

Toyodiy-1_zps3df1c7e9.jpg

Step 2:
Now this is where we start specifying what kind of car we have. Don't worry if you don't have your vehicle frame number, we can just use the categories to select our car. So click on 'Select your car' and follow the steps.

Toyodiy-2_zpsa30d8017.jpg

As you can see, I've skipped the steps to show the individual choices I selected.. but they are listed there. Japan - > 1997 - > Toyota - > Chaser - > JZX100. As you select these options, the menus appear and choices keep getting narrowed down. It concludes at either Auto or Manual Tourer V.

Step 3:
Select your platform from step 2 - now you'll see the main categories for the various parts.

Now eg. I want a dashboard part..so let's select 'Body' and see what choices we have:

Sure enough, our dashboard parts are listed in there.. so let's get a closer look to see what's what:

Toyodiy-4a_zps72436bb0.jpg

Step 4:
Select the part and on the right hand side the part number is highlighted too, with a rough guide to how much it should cost.. bloody brilliant!

Toyodiy-5_zpsd431f829.jpg

Now not only can you get the part numbers, but instead of damaging a car part, in your attempt to remove it or ' WTF won't this part come out RAGE' .. you can see from the diagrams where there's a screw/bolt or clip that might be in the way. Handy tip smile.png

We've got the part number, so 50% there ! and guess what? didn't need to call anyone .. didn't need to stay on the line waiting for someone.. DIY like a **** boss.. cool.png

Let's go say hi to our friends at Amamaya.com ..

Below I've already past the part number in the search field.. this website is also simple to use - it opens up just as below and a blank field to search the part number.

Amayama-1_zpsa4e7c1cd.jpg

Next it will bring up the part availablity, how long to deliver, what price and where is it available from..

Select the choice that suits you and book it in:

I would NOT recommend this for overnight speed parts - I mean you can put that in the information when you fill out the form but I'm not a 100% its a suitable way to get a part if your car HAS TO HAVE the part tomorrow because you need to make it somewhere..

They are fairly busy but they always respond within reasonable time.. I've used Amayama for replacing all kinds of parts.. exterior, interior suspension etc etc

These guys are amazing. The two different prices for the same part as I mentioned depends if the part is in Aus or in stock in Japan, for small bits and pieces it's only a couple of dollars difference, quick service either way.. I was after a new dash panel and local Toyota dealer has it for $146 and I purchased it from Amayama for $75, so ended up ordering a few extra interior bits/switches in black to replace the silver trim inside... Also saved on postage because they are 10min from my house ;) Extremely helpful and friendly service..

ToyoDIY have removed their diagrams due to legal pressure from Toyota - the part numbers are still valid however, and there are other sites out there which have the pictures to go with the numbers.

What's usual turnaround time from Amayama that people has experienced ? I submitted an order yesterday and haven't got reply yet, I guess they need to give me a shipping quote. If it's normally more than 24 hours then I'm be in more patience :)

The website states 1-2 day turnaround on quotes, remember this relies on them being able to get confirmation of stock from Toyota as well as shipping quotes, so it can occasionally drag out.

Every comments on here about Amayama appear to be positive therefore I signed up and placed first order.

I submitted and paid on 1 April, the order is in 'in progress' status for almost 2 weeks now, yesterday I send a follow up email, no reply after 24 hours.

So far I'm not very impressed perhaps they all gone early for Easter break, I don't know what'd happen to my order now.

How long did you guys need to wait for your parts from Amayama ??

I have used this service many times now, and currently have an order in.

It will get here faster and cheaper than it takes Toyota to get something from Japan(6 weeks), usually takes around 3 weeks. If you are after anything in a hurry don't use this service.

It sometimes takes a day or two for them to respond to queries/emails..

Also, where did you select your parts to be sourced from, Japan or UAE? UAE is cheaper but has longer lead times and more chance of delay, often into the weeks.

Okay, thanks again guys. If average is 3 weeks, then I'll be in more patience.

Hiro, I selected parts from Japan even though it cost more, so far what upset me is no response to my email, I'd imagine they are a very small team.

At the end, I'm not in a hurry, just a bit uncomfortable so far, compare to all online parts stores that I've dealed with before.

partsouq.com still has illustrated parts breakdowns for a handful of JDM Toyota models

Sorry guys, haven't been on much.

Hiro has been answering spot on though :) - this is the kind of service you'd use where time is not really a key factor, if I'm honest.

I have had certain parts delivered very soon, but then some times there is a delay. As mine is just a weekender so I've not been fussed.

Hopefully you had a response by now though.
