My 'New' Aurion - 2008 Touring - Super low genuine kms

I have to brag...

Picked up my new 2008 Touring Aurion today and am very excited about how good of condition it is. The previous owner didn't even clean up for sale so I had the privlidge of seeing it reborn after a good wash.

It has about 16,800 genuine kms on it....not a mis-print! Even smells new inside (not new car in a can smell either).

Couple of questions...

What is best for bringing back slightly faded black plastics on the outside? (i.e.Window wiper panel, underneath spoiler etc)

What's best used for chrome strips?

I'll post some picks after I finish polishing it, gonna treat ot like Ted Bulpit looked after his Kingswood!

Congrats on your new ride! Excellent mileage you have there!

I'm on the other end of the spectrum.. 180,XXX kms and counting!

Given the MY of the car and very low KMs, I'd be at least changing the oil, oil filter and air filter even if a service is not required according to the log book.

OK,

Black plastics, I use Forever Black-http://www.autobarn.com.au/forever-black-bumper-trim-reconditioner-236ml-fb080
used it on my previous rides and swear by it.

Chrome plastics- I'm not too sure on, but I've learnt to live with mine fading away :(

Chrome metals- I only use Meguiar's NXT generation metal polish and love this stuff too.

Make sure your car has had all the recalls performed on it, take it to a dealer and they can look up the VIN to ensure its all up to date.

!BEWARE! - At some stage you will need to replace the VVT-I oil cooler pipe. It will just bust while you're driving, no warning, no nothing. Thankfully you have SUPER low K's so that's a few years down the track for you. I did mine at a dealer was quoted $1500, but after having a chat to the manager etc, I got it for $900 including a 160k service. If you're a mechanic give it a try yourself, but its NOT recommended..

Dash rattles are common on these cars, there aren't any fixes as such, you'll just need to take apart the offending panels, put something in to stop the rattle and re-assemble..

Thanks for that info Ryan, much appreciated. Doesn;t look like it's had any recalls. Toyota usually put that silver sticker inside the the driver's door, did that on my '03 Camry anyway.

Gonna get some tint this week. Can't decide between 35/20, all 35 or 35 sides and 20 rear window...Law in WA is OK to have 35 in front of pillar and 20 behind now. Wonder if it looks a bit weird having two tone.

Anyway, here's some pics.
