Whiteline Rear Swaybar

Terry

Recommended Posts

i picked up and installed my Whiteline Rear Swaybar today :)

there is definately a difference in the way the car handles

i can feel that it reduces bodyroll and understeer really well

like i can take a corner at higher than normal speeds and it feels much more stable than before B)

got it for $169 at Autobarn (Product Code: BTR39) ;)

i'm glad it's working well for you, Terry.

did you do the installation yourself? you sound pretty mechanical

i would never be able to figure out how to install something like this. i suppose you need some sort of training.

like the time you installed, what was it, an extra horn? i would love to be able to do the same things on my camry................

nah i couldnt install it myself, if i had airpowered drill, i probably could have

the endlink bolts were on too tight for just a ratchet to remove...

so i had to get mechanic to do it :P

oh btw, the extra horn was practically plug and play, except for grounding wire, and mounting it of course ;)

im not 100% sure, but the wiring for this extra horn should be there for all the Gen5s i believe.

i see......so how much did it cost you to install the rear swaybar?

and wouldn't it affect your warranty?

about the horn, my reason for wanting to "modify" the horn is because the standard horn is a bit too high-pitched for me. adding another horn would make it louder twice as much and it would also lower the pitch, right? :)

may i know what to ask for (the horn), how much it cost you and where to get it from?

hmm.......now i'm really thinking about doing these two things :D

thanks, mate

as far as i know it shouldnt affect the warrenty...hopefully

they charged me $77, at my local Goodyear Tyre and Auto place (thats actually cheaper than some other places ive heard)...

with the horn, adding a second one will definately make it louder.

but as for the tone, it will be very slightly lower, practically the tone is about the same, the sound is just louder :P...

i got the horn from Toyota, it was $23.

its a stock horn, just added another one basically

i think the stock camry should have 2 horns. i know that my GEN 4 camry have 2 horns.

yeah the Camrys should have 2 horns, one high pitched and one low pitched....

my old Gen3 had two, one behind the grill and one behind bumper on the right side.

but for the Gen5s they were being cheap i assume, so they combined them, and gave you 1 'big' medium one

yeah the BTR39 is the one i got, it just has one setting.

whilst the BTR39Z is adjustable, meaning it has a few settings you can choose, which give a different handling response.

i figured, id be too lazy to change them, so i just got the single setting one ;), plus it was cheaper :P

Terry, you have done the Whiteline Rear Sway Bar, did you do the font also?

Did you need to do a wheel alignmemt after adding the sway bar?

How have you found this mod, 3 years on?

P.S. I have tried to PM you, however it says that you can not take PM's?...

Hey there, not sure why it wasn't letting me accept PM's seems to be working now though.

anyway, I only got the rear swaybar done, I didn't really feel getting a bigger front swaybar is necessary for me.

having the bigger rear swaybar it reduces understeer I have noticed, that said though, it still understeers alot when you push it hard, lol :P

I don't think a wheel alignment is necessary after installing it (correct me if im wrong anyone), in anycase, I didn't have to get one.

3 years on, yes I am still very happy with it, definitely worth the money :D

the only 'downside' you could say, is that you need to crawl underneath every 6 months or so, to regrease the swaybar bushings since they dry out and start to squeak.

I have the front and rear whiteline sway bars, really well worth it. I still only have the stock Altise suspension, but it handles really much better than it did before. I find the understeer to be really good, you have to be going quite hard to get it. You shouldn’t need to get a front wheel alignment as you only need to knock the tie rods out. The job is not near as hard as the workshop manual says, 31 steps but really maybe about 10.

realisitcally, you probably wouldnt notice any difference with a thicker front sway bar due to having the strut brace on the sportivo. if you wanted to increase front-end rigidity, then i would recommend starting with a better strut brace.

you'll only notice a significant difference on the back due to the camrys not having any extra structural bracing between the rear strut towers.

i too have got the swaybar installed, and theres definitely less body roll. when, and if, the governmen bonus still comes out, i'll probably be getting a better strut brace myself. i thought i'd also look into getting fatter steering bushes to increase feedback.

*sigh* the "to do list" keeps getting longer..

I had the rear one on for about a month before putting the front sway bar in and I found that it dose make a difference when your going really hard around sharp corners, and I also have the Sportivo strut brace. Admittedly I still have standard Altise shocks and springs, but still, I personally would recommend it.

just reviving old thread.

I am thinking of upgrading my rear sway bar. What is the cheapest price nowadays I can get Whiteline BTR39?

I found the cheapeast $189 on ebay is http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Whiteline-BTR39-Sway-Bar-Stabiliser-Kit-Rear-/161161823262?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2585fe441e.

They no longer $169 as were in 2005,2006? Do Repco and Autobarn still sell it?
