Water Pump and Coolant

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Car is a 2009 Aurion 91,000km

So about 3 months ago I got my water pump replaced at Toyota, old one had a slow leak. The next day after picking the car up the coolant was quite low in the reservoir took it back to Toyota said it was normal as it was just going back through the system and they topped it up. I checked it yesterday (engine cold) and the coolant reservoir was empty. I then drove it to work and checked it again and it was about half full in the reservoir. It seems that whenever it's cold it completely drains itself empty in the reservoir. I understand it expands with heat and what not but to be completely bone dry when cold seems a bit worrying

I went and bought the genuine Toyota super long life coolant and am going to fill it a little in the morning and check again after it cools down from a drive. Could there be a problem with the new water pump or is this totally normal in the Aurions. Also I haven't noticed any wet patches under the car at all. I've had no overheating warning lights and the temp gauge is just under the middle where it's always been, any help would be great thanks guys

Rob.

My car from cold to hot stays between the low and full indicators of the coolant container. If I fill it up to the top, I can see once the engine warms up it leaks out the cap. I have never seen it dry. (175,000KMs)

Hi Jester.

My fluid stayed at similar levels, when cold or hot.

I'm wrecking an '07 TRD (SL) in WA (should be finished by 27.08.14), so there are still some original TRD parts available ... radiator, pipes, etc.

If you wanna send me an email bid for any of the parts, read points 1 to 4 at the bottom of my first post, post #1 (current bids for each part are at post #10) ...

Hi Rob, how much did Toyota charge you for replacing the water pump?
