Hilux conversion from manual to automatic transmission

G'day all,

First time posting here. I know this is a weird question but I have to put it out there as I'm at my wit's end. I have a 1997 Hilux LN106 2.8l diesel 4WD, and it's a 5 speed manual (G52 code). So it happens, I had a bad foot ulcer (diabetes), got laid up in hospital for a while. My docs recommended for long term medical wise, I have to drive an automatic, period. Now, I drive an old Ford Fairmont with a 4 speed auto (the best I could do).

I can't purchase an new 4WD due to my financial position and I really want to keep the old girl, so is there any way I can convert her to automatic? If it means having an new engine, so be it, as the original motor is about stuffed, even after 250,000 k's on the clock. So, what are the options? Is there good mechanics that will work on the old girl in the Brisbane area? (I'm in Ipswich). Could the original motor be rebuilt and turbo'ed along with an automatic transmission? I really need any help/advice/pricings, so I can drive the old girl without losing my left foot. Thanks for listening though.

      Toyota Corolla 2012 zre152 transmission issue

      Hi Toyota owners, I'm new to this forum registration. I need some advice or help as I have a shifting issue with my 2012 4 speed transmission. It doesn't do it all the time but the gears don't shift smoothly specially 3 to 4 gear it just bangs in when I'm cruising and it happens more often when hot. Got full transmission serviced with Toyota genuine parts no metal shavings in pan. Changed ATF 3 times. Full major service done, 100000 KLM on car. Full synthetic oil with 98 Ron fuel. Throttle body cleaned twice. Maf sensor cleaned. New spark plugs. No engine codes. Great loss of power sometimes specially on hot days. Please help as no mechanic knows what the issue is. Thanks in advance.

      Yes mine is October 2023. It arrived late February Early March to the docks in Brisbane. I have a friend who has been told that hers will be in the next shipment but is only on the production line now. So future stock should be 2024 ! ?

      Thanks Martin. I thought that may have been the case. However, it seems an anomaly with so much tech on board. My wife always looks for this feature after an ugly incident while stopped at a traffic light some years ago. As you said ...perhaps an OTA update? One other thing if you don't mind me asking. What is the build date on your vehicle? The C-HR's that appeared at my local dealer in the last fortnight all have an October or November 23 build date. Thanks, Peter

      Auto door locking on new 2024 C-HR?

      Hi I was very lucky to receive one of the first new models last month. My Koba is amazing- as have all of my previous Toyotas. However in answer to your question it does not automatically lock the doors when you engage Drive or when you reach a preset speed. I am very disappointed that with all of the electronic devices and safety features and the approximately 20% increase in price over the last model that Toyota Australia has left a very important safety feature out of the vehicle. We see cars being carjacked almost nightly on the news. My knowledge of technology in this sector is limited but surely it is only an update of the operating systems to fix this. The new model is a beautiful car- your wife should still buy one.

      is it possible to import US model Sienna to Australia?

      I rent a 2023 model in US just few days ago it’s beauty and real good on fuel much nicer to drive compare to Honda Odyssey which I own one 2022 model make me wonder why Toyota AUS won’t bring the Sienna hybrid to Australia instead we get bulky ugly looking Granvia with diesel engine 🤔🤔!!

      How to delete bluetooth device?

      I have a Yaris and had a similar issue. I just submitted a similar query to GPT. The response was to go into settings, view paired devices, select the device to remove, and confirm the removal. It helped me; I couldn't find the answer on the internet, but I found it there.
