Huge issues after rebuild.

Hello everyone

I am after some advice.. I have a 93 hiace diesel. 3L 2.8. I took it to my local guy for a rebuild, had 500 k on it. Anyway after 6 weeks i have finally got it back. And it sounds terrible . It's blowing huge amounts of white smoke and thick black smoke when u accelerate . It's also has lost all power, Really sluggish and i cant get it over 80 kmph. The fuel pump was replaced , the injectors done and a full rebuild. My mechanic seems to have no idea how to fix it. But I cant drive it as is.. Ohh also, its auto and the Rpms drop and it stalls as soon as i put it in gear. Any ideas?

Did anyone check the metering of the fuel pump, or was it just tossed in? Motor should be a bit tight initially, and not be run too hard whilst running in. Was it a new head? If not, was it tested for cracks? What oil did he put in it? Check the timing of the cam and fuel pump at the belt AND--NB--final injector timing is normally done with a gauge system by rotating the pump, tho' an experienced person can set it close by ear. it's NOT just a matter of putting new parts back where old ones came from. It's much more than that. Sounds like your mech is unfamiliar with these engines/tried to shortcut it. No can do, you have to do it right. Esp if the fuel pump is calibrated for a 2L or 5L instead-and without testing, you wouldn't know. Adjustment isn't hard-read the manual and diy, or you'll spend a lot of money finding a good, honest, competent mechanic. They're scarce, is all I'll say. Lots of cowboys and bulldust artists willing to take your precious, hard earned money without responsibility for propper workmanship, parts or attention to detail. I do not trust Australian tradesmen in any field-they're too often incompetent, unreliable thieves. That has been my constant experience for 45yrs.

Edit: Specifically, what else was done? Whilst I could guess, it's nice to know the actual details.
