Headlight switch disabled need fix

Hello everyone I recently bought a used 2004 3 litre turbo diesel ute that was a company car used in a business that required its vehicles to have a permanent headlights on feature.

I now want to return it to its original state. The lights are on as soon as you start the car and the switch on the steering column has no effect. I have pulled off the shroud around the column and there seems be nothing out of theusual there all plugs are plugged and there are no wiring that looks out of the norm.

I have blown the budget a bit in getting it cleaned up , so I am hoping to avoid an auto electrician and his bill. Would anyone have and experience with this and be able to point me in the direction where I may find the mod?

cheers

Sorry, but you need a trained person to sort this. It's possible but difficult for an amateur to find it, and remote diagnosis is very difficult. I do suggest that you look around the headlamp relay for an "extra wire" as it has to have battery supplied to the lights somewhere after the h/l on off switch to bypass it. Beyond that, I can't help without an uneconomic return plane ticket for me. Posting pics of the area may provide a clue, but the bridge can be anywhere, and I'm uncertain how to advise you further, than get expert help. NB Try to find someone honest-and if possible, get several quotes to do it. Anyone who quotes less than an hour has a good idea of a standard method of doing this, and it's prob only 15min work. Be creative google for a std method, it might come up. ask mining dept how they want it done.

Hey mate, this might be along shot, but are you by any chance able to contact the company who owned the vehicle. The headlight on mod could of been performed by their own service dept, similar to how Telstra (sorry Telecom ) vehicles years ago, who use to have their headlights on. Is there any hint of any after market relay, wiring connectors under the hood, around the back of the headlights EVEN have a look INSIDE the FUSE BOX!

All the best
