Looking for good mechanic - Melbourne, inner north - suggestions please

Of course I wouldn't be looking for a crap mechanic, eh?

I own a 2005 SR5 3.0 Turbo Diesel 4WD, and want to find a good mechanic in my area.

I have tried a few locally, but never really happy, the latest mechanic is giving me conflicting information from one service to the next.

I understand that most of you here are probably into self-servicing and modifications... I just want to find a mechanic I can trust who knows what they are doing, doesn't charge the earth, and doesn't do unnecessary work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This guys name is Ange or Birdman if u like. He was apparently a former toyota mechanic. I was recommended to him from a mate.

Hes a funny guy and a bit odd, although hes also honest and doesnt overcharge.

Try him out if Epping aint too far.

Thanks very much for the suggestion, Kanmuri79 - I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, Epping is a bit too far - I'm in Collingwood. But I might give Ange/Birdman a call and see if he can suggest anyone.

I know this post is years old now but I was wondering if you found a mechanic Nerida?

I'm also in the inner north and have had a hard time finding a reliable mechanic for my Hilux.
