Over heating 01 hilux

Hi just wondering if anyone knows what to look for when searching for an over heating problem with the engine, ie radiator, water pump etc. Engine type is a 1kzte and also going to be pulling the cylinder head off to inspect for cracking and other damage. Cheers

Motors overheating are due to overwork &/or undercool.

It's an 01 model, so it's at least 250000km. its a typical problem abt this mileage, can be cause by any combination of below.

Get maintenance CD from ebay- they're cheap, durable and easily read. Will work on linux, as the files are pdf's. You have to test and eliminate the possibilities one by one or fix until it's all within specs.

the good thing is: this mountain of work prob won't hit you again all at once until abt 450000km+. Keep written records of faults, & what and when you do things to it.

Your brake & clutch cylinders and clutch itself are due for replacement. Rear brake shoes and drums need checking. Front brake pads need check, rotors might need machining/replacement. Do the main and g'box seals too, recon starter and alternator. adjust steering box, repair any bad steering/wheel/driveshaft bearings.

Spend the money, or sell it-your choice. We can guide you how to DIY-otherwise it will cost you more than it will ever be worth. This is normal at this age and mileage. It's an expensive bump in it's life, all falling due at once.

Do it properly, with good parts, and you'll get another 15yrs out of it without major troubles. Remember, this is normal, & prevention is cheaper and safer than cure.

Bad radiator/heater cores, bad water pump, bad thermostat/housings, bad hoses inc in cabin ones, bad timing, wrong gear for load, wind direction bad, persistent hills, wrong coolant, wrong oil, weather extremes, worn motor, hard driving, bad head, bad block, blockages, contaminated coolant, wrong fuel, bad rings/pistons/valves, poor belt tension, bad harmonic ballancer, low/wrong oil/coolant. too much oil, leaky welch plugs, partic the one behind the block, over boost, carboned up motor, oversize wheels, driving on loose sand/mud/water. bad tyre pressures, dragging brakes, bad diff,, bad fuel pressure, bad computer. bad airfilter. leaky exhaost. Hi drag or heavy load, carried &/or towed. excessive low speed work. Bad fan clutch, excessive aircon use at low speed,

have I missed anything?
