How long has this been happening?

Have you accidently turned the boot key to the left and enabled the valet mode?

Does the boot release inside the car open it?

Are you able to open the boot with the key?

I bought the car 3 days ago.i'm not sure what happens to the boot before.

The boot can be open from inside and with the key.only from remote can't be open.

Once I checked the key to make sure it's not been turn to the left.if it's turned left the boot can't be open from inside even.the key position is correct but still can't open it from remote.

Do you hear a click, or a clunck when you push the boot release on the remote?

When you press and hold the boot release button on the remote, you should hear two sounds,

The first would be the Toyota style beep, which should be longer then the one you h👂 when you lock it.

Then you should hear almost straight after a cluck or a click noise from just below the Toyota logo badge on the boot lid.

If you don't h👂 the cluck or click then your actuator is either not getting power or its fault or jammed.

Let us know how you go.

No you don't need a mech yet.

Let's do some fault finding first.

Also which state are you in if you don't mind me ask, if you're close I could come have a look if that's cool.

I'm in QLD.

Ok do you feel comfortable taking some of the trim off?

It's easy and I'm 90% sure you won't brake anything.

When you open the boot, you will see on the trim/carpet there are some round thing with some slots/holes in them

(I'll try get a photo for you)

You just need to pop them out and pull that carpet off and you will be able to see the actuator.

Then you need to make sure the actuator is connected,

If it is just take it out and blow it then put it back in.

It's not necessarily a bad thing if that doesn't work.

I know some models you can actually deactivate the remote open, so it can only be opened from the key and the manual release on the floor.

Unfortunately I do believe you have to take it to a dealer to get it changed back to on.

I'll see if I can get a pic to help you understand.

This pic is from another thread and I have just saved it to my phone, I do not take any ownership of this pic nor do I take responsibility for any inaccuracies that may or may not be there.

No worries mate.

I had the same problem with my from passenger door light.

I notice it wasn't working I took the light out to see it wasn't connected, because it was within the 30 days of buying it I took it back to the dealer and said the light doesn't work.

They had it for a bit then when I got it back they said it was a blown bulb.

Scum they are

(Just a note, I bout it second hand from ford, not from Toyota)
