Aurion towbar Chassis braces?

Hi,

I just bought an Aurion towbar from a wrecker for my Aurion 2008.

It looks like this:

I've installed it now, but upon completion I realised they didn't give me the Chassis Braces, shown below:

How necessary are these things? They're pretty flimsy amd I'm struggling to understand what they actually do?

They may be there to spread the load of the bolts and prevent them pulling through, but I can't really tell from the image.

If Toyota have included them then I would use them,

Just go back and explain they didn't give them to you

How much $$ did the towbar setup cost you? looking to get one for my SX6 but don't want to cut the rear bar to fit one (that is if I need to cut it)

$190 for 2nd hand toyota towbar and wiring harness. You can get cheapies installed for $400, and good ones installed for $800+

I agree, and will try to find these parts.

I've already towed a 500kg trailer with it now, and it was fine. It's already stronger than most of the 1200kg aftermarket trailer kits.

However I will install these braces if I ever need to tow a heavy load.

I had to cut a hole for the tongue to go through. Mine is the stock bumper bar. I think it's a bit different for yours.
