Recommended Posts

My Camry, not had it long idles at around 2000-1800 rpm when dead cold and takes a good few minutes to drop down.

Dealer says this is normal for this model, can anyone confirm?

The quicker it can warm up, the less emissions and cold engine wear that will occur.

The quicker the vehicle gets mobile and drives under light load the better. Apart from 20 to 30 seconds which we should all allow before driving off the sooner you begin driving the better.

My main concern about the excessive time when the engine is at or around 2000 to 1200 rpm is driveline shock when engaging a gear. (automatic)
