My first car; a 2005 Corolla Sportivo!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i've been following this forum for quite awhile as i've been interested in buying a Sportivo for awhile and as destiny came to be i would indeed end up with one! This is my 2005 Corolla Sportivo with a few mods I've done alone and with my best mate recently. Prior to purchasing this car, i did look at a few others including one that i thought i'd get, though it had been in an accident that was unrecorded and lacked any service history what so ever. I wasn't expecting perfection by any means and i knew that it would be almost impossible to find. Thus,  i settled with my beautiful example of a sportivo and i'm trying to create something i can be proud of.I'm located in Wa and am curious as to how many people still own a stivo on this forum as it's been a lot slower as of late I've noticed. The red Stivo is a 2003 model and is owned by my step dad and is also the car i learnt in. I think he's pretty proud to know that i've also become attached the last non gutless corolla made by Toyota. ;)

Updating this as of Sept. 13th, 2016 so you're not having to find what the car's looking like at the moment!

Nice car mate!

Those are actually the top stage eye lids, they are quite hard to find these days.

I have c-one reps waiting to go on, they look a little less aggressive.

I had no idea, i assumed only c-one made the eyelids! :)  They definitely are a great addition though :)

Yeah there's a lot you'll find about Sportivos mate. Most of the products are generally discontinued or extremely hard to find these days.

C-One eye lids look more like this:

Like the trd shifer ! Well dun

Cheers man! Picked it up for like 15 bucks so i'm really happy with it! :)
Anyone have any other ideas? Might look at getting some headers and a cold air intake soon as everything else is done :)

TRD intake is 70mm, some places take the easy route using readily available 3" tube which is 76mm and then it runs into issues with the stock ECU not being able to correct enough for the change in airflow with the MAF sensor.

I've noticed a few people having issues with the trd intake, shame :(
I've looked at the CAI/SRI thread and pretty set on a CAI, you guys had much experience with any other brands? I do like the look of the CES ones but couldn't find them anywhere.

Also, not sure it's been done before but has anyone put mudflaps on their stivo? Might sound strange but if they were subtle they would probably look alright. Just a thought :)

I've got an Injen on my 2005.

Screams in top end, one of the loudest you can get.

Haven't had any issues with it since I installed it. Did the ECU reset and she still runs like a dream.

CES is overpriced for what it is, I make my own.  The TRD is a good intake, people that have problems with it need to clean their MAF.

My mate suggested we just make our own and buy a pod, not sure though ill have to see i suppose :)

Where'd you get it from man? :)

Sounds like a good price mate.

I'd go for TRD, AEM, Injen or CES if you have the $$$.

I hear Simota ones are bit laggy down low. My Injen feels almost identical to stock in the bottom end.

Like I said, I'll keep waiting for now and see what's best, my mate wants a CAI for his SV6 so if we can make one for both of our cars that'd be sweet:)

Any benefits to buying over making one myself?:)

less time and effort to buy one is about the only benefit if you can fabricate well and get the MAF flange right.  Custom made will get you the shortest length and best route with optimal diameter

Just not sure on how i'll figure out one how to pipe it, i understand it goes near the front bumper alongside the inner wheel, just concerned that i buy piping and then it's all over the place
