Recommended Posts

Traditionally, I associate fog lights with yellow.

Always best to check with your State Dept of Transport about any legal requirements or limitations on fog lights. Not good if you end up being pulled over by the police and told to remove them because they are too bright and blinding oncoming traffic.

I have the same opinion about fog's as Campbeam above..fog lights are yellow..driving lights white..as far as ugly..well not really..it as always comes down to personal taste.

ADR says it can be White or selective yellow. But then again doing HID conversion probably going again ADR anyway.

I personally have bright white fog lights. I only use them when I am more out bush/country roads.

Depends on your personal taste.

ADRs are different from state road laws.

Correct, but generally speaking when it comes to roadworthy and generic alterations the state transport legislation/regulation mimics ADR. Of course there is slight variations.

QLD, NSW and VIC legislation almost mimic word for word ADR in relation to Fog lights.

So HID fogs are illegal? How else can I get yellow lights?

ive got 8000k low beams, although I wish I got 5-6000k. Prob change it later.

Fingers crossed no prob with the cops yet. Does it carry a fine or just a warning to change it

I've only had to use my foglights once in the four or so years I've owned the car, is it really that much foggier over on the east coast?

I know in QLD if it purple fairy, they will just defect you. Chance they will even look at you is rare.

Just having fog lights on in clear weather is running a a decent chance of the boys in blue wanting to have a chat.

I would tint personally.

I bought some yellow 3000k helogen bulbs off eBay, love them, they are legal according to QLD Legislation, THEY ARE NOT HID, HID ARE ONLY LEGAL WITH A SELF LEVELING SYSTEM AND HEADLIGHT WASHER SYSTEM, Or in this case fog light washer system.

not entirely sure if you can have HID for your fog light though but I'll see what it says.

you can go to your main roads website and find the vehicle standards legislation for your state.
