Is it ok to drive your Aurion like a manual all the time?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have a 2010 Aurion Sportivo ZR6 and i LOVE to drive it like a manual " sportshift " I recently had a  2 1/2"  Magnaflow CatBack Exhaust System installed

and it just doesn't sound as good driving it as an auto. My question is: Do you guys drive in sportshift all the time?

and does anyone know if its bad for the engine?

Cheers

The only way that it is bad for the engine is if you are revving it high when the engine is not up to temperature, or you are constantly bouncing it off the limiter.

Transmission-wise, probably not the best for it, but realistically shouldn't do too much damage, unless you are really aggressive in your driving style.

I agree with Trent..unless you are really pushing it and constantly changing up down... shouldn't be an issue..I mainly use sports for slow crawls as why have an auto if not enjoying the cruising care free change...as the view rolls by

Thanks for the info guys . I don't flog my car it's really no different to having it in auto n putting foot down n it changing gears same way , I'm just doing it manually :)  I find it respons better once I put my foot down , where in auto it lags !!

I nearly always use manual change before overtaking, and sometimes for merging in to a busy traffic stream.  In my opinion, the kickdown/changedown functions aren't nearly quick enough to respond, whereas engine throttle response is very quick when TX already selected at 4, or 3 for slower speeds.  Not had any problems, and on one occasion when I did overrev it, TX changed up anyway.... I also use it for going up and down hills to get better engine braking, so you can be a bit lighter on the brakes, and you get the snap throttle response for zipping past slow trucks (there's a few hilly highways in NZ !)
