Cost to Recondition 05 V6 petrol hilux motor

Hi,

just wondering if anyone has had a reconditioned motor put into a 2005 v6 4x4 Hilux? How much did/would it cost including labour? Trying to decide whether to cut our losses and sell as is or rebuild and relove?! 

195000km on the clock, runs beautifully but radiator drains quickly then runs hot. Had diagnostics done and mechanic said there's contamination with likely blown gasket, cause unknown as yet but he recommended sell ASAP as its only a matter of time now before the engine goes... Opinions??

A rebuilt engine plus labour will probably push in excess of $5,000, but it will depends on the mechanic and parts prices.

Have a look directly below the water pump, for any tell-tale signs of dried coolant ( Red Pinkish colour dries and stands out ), could be losing it thru the seal in the bottom of water pump.

If its leaking internally then its obvious its mixing in with the engine oil so that should be a milky mess, and over full on the dip stick

With the radiator cap removed and the thermostat has opened, is there bubbles in the coolant,
