Dash Light Illumination

Hi all,

Have seen on other sites the absence of a dash light control and  finding the dash light too bright at night....however there is a solution as I found out by getting an English version of JDM manual.

First turn on ignition

Then turn on sidelights

Make sure display shows ODO

Push and hold selection button

Display will dim from now when headlights are on.

Simple fix, and may help others!

Thanks for the help, I heard you can also install custom lighting in most cars yourselves by buying off ebay

Wifes yaris dash lights went out and means tail lights and runni g lights out.

All fuses and relays ok .lokked at finger contacts on light stalk and found one contact had dropped out and wedged between one of the fingers. So after a period of time got it back to where it belonged and intantly all worked. Just had to bend finger back int right shape so pressure of contact correct. Now all working fine again . What a pain.

Since found lots of car owners having same problem and toyota aware of faulty light stalks . This is very dangerous especially when driving at night and lights  go out. Also not to mention could catch fire. But no recal to replace. Come on toyota we are loyal please be same.
