TOYOTA DOUBLES RANGE OF FUEL-CELL HYBRID VEHICLE

Motor Corporation (TMC) has developed a fuel-cell hybrid vehicle that
can travel 830km* on a single fuelling - more than double the range of
its predecessor.
The Toyota FCHV-adv (fuel-cell hybrid vehicle - advanced) is equipped with the newly designed high-performance Toyota FC Stack.

TOYOTA TO PROVIDE HYBRID AND OTHER VEHICLES TO G8 SUMMIT

 Toyota
Motor Corporation (TMC) announced it will provide 78 conventional
hybrid and other environmentally friendly vehicles for official use and
demonstration at the July 7-9 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit.
The vehicles will be used to transport participating country officials,
shuttle media and government representatives and serve as
next-generation test ride vehicles as part of the summit's
Environmental Showcase of environmentally related displays and
demonstrations at the venue's international media centre.

TOYOTA PRIUS WINS INAUGURAL ECO CAR AWARD

first car magazine devoted to the environment has presented its
inaugural technology and innovation award to the world's first
mass-produced hybrid vehicle, Toyota Prius.

TOYOTA ANNOUNCES AUSTRALIAN HYBRID PRODUCTION

 Toyota Australia will begin manufacturing a hybrid Camry sedan at its Altona plant from the beginning of 2010.
Toyota Motor Corporation President Mr Katsuaki Watanabe reported the
decision to introduce hybrid manufacturing to Australia to the
Honourable Kevin Rudd, MP, Prime Minister of Australia at a meeting in
Nagoya, Japan earlier today.

 Toyota unveiled
the TRD Aurion Pro-Factory Xtreme (Pro-FX) drag car at Willowbank
Raceway in Queensland today ahead of its debut outing at the biggest
event in Australian drag racing, the 2008 Winter nationals.
Run by former Australian champion Tony Wedlock and his Ultimate
Motorsport team, the TRD Aurion Pro-FX has a top speed of more than
350km/h.

TOYOTA CRACKS THE 'TON'

 Toyota Australia has become the first car company to exceed 100,000 sales in the first five months of a calendar year.
Australians bought a record 101,816 Toyota cars and trucks between January 1 and the end of May this year.
This was almost 10.7 per cent higher than the previous record of 91,984 vehicles sold by Toyota in the same period of 2007.

TOYOTA CAMRY IS THE BEST-SELLING AUSTRALIAN-MADE CAR

 Toyota Camry has claimed the title of the best-selling Australian-made car.
A record number of 111,891 Camry sedans were produced last year at
Toyota's Altona plant in Melbourne's west and sold on domestic and
export markets.
Camry was the only Australian-built car with annual production exceeding 100,000 vehicles.
Of these, Australian motorists bought more than 26,300 Camry sedans -
making it the country's best-selling mid-size car by a margin of more
than two-to-one over its nearest rival.

Toyota has been using a computer simulation system, Total Human Model
Safety (THUMS), to help it design safer production vehicles for several
years.
THUMS is a virtual representation of the human body that can provide
Toyota engineers with precise data about the injuries real people might
suffer in different kinds of vehicle accidents.

PRIUS WINS INTERNATIONAL GREEN ENGINE AWARD

petrol-electric hybrid engine that powers the Toyota Prius has been
named Green Engine of the Year by an international panel of experts.
Judges said the Prius engine remains the world's leader in reducing emissions without compromising performance.
The Green Engine of the Year is for an engine designed with fuel
economy as a priority and which employs intelligent technologies to
reduce emissions.

of 2008, according to official figures released today.
It is the first time a Toyota vehicle has been the overall market leader for the first quarter of a calendar year.

new-generation Kluger has topped the sales charts for the first time in
its segment, according to official figures released today.
The sales results show Australians bought 1404 Klugers in February,
giving it victory by more than 100 deliveries over the long-term

 All Toyota dealers will be able to sell and service performance-enhanced TRD vehicles from tomorrow (1 March).
Toyota Australia's senior executive director sales and marketing David
Buttner said the move was prompted by customer convenience and dealer
demand.
TRD sales and service were originally undertaken by a small group of Toyota dealers.

COROLLA THE CHEAPEST TO REPAIR

Australia's
top-selling small car Toyota Corolla costs less to repair after a
low-speed crash than its main rivals, according to an NRMA Insurance
testing program.
The cost of repairing a Corolla after a "bumper test" was less than half the cost of fixing any of the other eight cars tested.
NRMA Insurance, in a statement, said it was "really pleased" with the result for Corolla. more info...
COROLLA TAKES EARLY SALES LEAD

Corolla has taken an early lead as Australia's best-selling vehicle in
2008, according to official sales figures released today.
Corolla sales last month were a January record of 3,843 - or 10.3 per
cent better than the previous January record set a year ago.
It was the second month in a row Corolla has led the sales charts following another market-leading performance in December.

Going on sale during the second quarter this year, TRD HiLux pumps out

Toyota Australia's LandCruiser 200 Series has claimed first and second places in Overlander magazine's 4WD of the Year award. The magazine said LandCruiser had won the quinella with the GXL turbo-diesel narrowly out-pointing its VX petrol stablemate.
"The new turbo-diesel 200 is not just 4WD of the Year for 2007. It is good enough to be 4WD of the decade," Overlander said. more info...

International Motor Show ahead of its launch in the second quarter of

version of its TOYOTA FCHV fuel cell hybrid vehicle successfully
completed a long-distance road test by travelling from Osaka to Tokyo
on a single fuelling of hydrogen.
The road test - part of the TOYOTA FCHV's public-road test program -
started in front of the Osaka Prefectural Government Office in central

popular Echo light car - a move it says will directly benefit the smash
repair industry.
For a short time a 45 per cent reduction in price of selected Toyota
Genuine airbags, airbag sensors and seatbelts means cheaper replacement
part costs for damaged vehicles, leading to fewer Echos being written

hybrid vehicle (HV) and become the first manufacturer to have such a
vehicle certified for use on public roads in Japan.
The Toyota plug-in HV certified for public road use by Japan's Ministry
of Land, Infrastructure and Transport uses - like earlier TMC-developed
hybrid vehicles - both a petrol-powered internal combustion engine and
