2014-2019 Kluger Head Unit Best Car play / AA Decoder
One important piece of technology absent in my 2019 Kluger Grande was the lack of Carplay / Android Auto. After much research I recently installed the Carsynchtech Android Auto decoder , this device fits seamlessly into the OEM head unit with a medium level of installation ability required. The screen resolution of the decoder is brilliant because the device connects directly via a ribbon cable to the screen and uses the factory bluetooth as audio. Other cheaper devices use the AUX for video and sound resulting in poor quality for both. All steering wheel functions work perfectly , I can change radio stations and audio source on Entune while running in AA. If I want audio on AA I simply go to bluetooth audio. Google assistant works great, you switch between Entune and AA by holding the hangup button on the steering wheel or by pressing the top left screen corner for 2 seconds. The decoder fully integrates with the 360 camera as well. This device gives the look and feel of a factory fitted option. The biggest issue with replacing the original HU with a screen on ebay for example is that you lose the ability to control all the vehicle settings , such as door locking. This unit gives you the ability to have the best of both worlds by switching between Entune or Carplay. The customer service is extremely helpful as well, normally emailing back within 24 hours. It took a couple of hours to install taking my time, there are two extra tiny screws (Australian version) that aren't shown on the video installation guide that must be removed when separating the screen. It has definitely transformed the car ! Note: The Australian version Head Unit is Fujitsu Ten, let them know before ordering. These units are being sold cheaper on AliExpress , to be 100% sure I got mine direct from the supplier. There is much info on the net for those interested. https://carsynctech.com/products/toyota-highlander-head-unit-decoder-carplay-androidauto-2014-2019 Tarz -

Rear seat belt
Evening folks, New to the forum, but I'm hoping someone here might have an idea as what's going on. Vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Crown and my rear seat belt icon won't go away, the belt can be clicked in or out no change. If someone sits on the seat no change, in fact it doesn't even register when anyone gets in the rear seats. Auto sparks had a look and it's not a seat belt sensor and there is no sensor in the seat either. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any Camry or Lexus GS owners perhaps? Anyhow , any help is much appreciated, thanks! -

2019 Kluger 2WD Transmission whine
Hi Osanda94, I am still waiting to hear back from Toyota about the warranty being covered. I took the car in and got it inspected (they covered the cost of inspection, though unsure if this is the norm or the lady was just really nice, Shelby at Hillcrest Toyota in Brisbane fyi. They came back with saying that I needed to include my mechanic trade certificate and receipts for parts as I service the car myself (I’m a qualified heavy diesel mechanic, and they seem to have accepted that I know what I’m doing, though I do question why changing engine oil and filters has anything to do with a non-serviceable gearbox). They then emailed me again last week asking me to film myself hoping in the car and driving off, so they can hear the sound. Haven’t heard back anything since then, but I am hoping to hear back in the next few weeks. Also like to add that I have a FWD 2WD and they said the service bulletin was for the AWD gearbox. But I’m hoping they’ll cover it regardless since the fault is the same. Will keep this post updated as I learn more. Hope this helps you. -

Repco Full Synthetic 5W-30 Engine Oil
I have never used that particular brand, but the thing you need to look for is the standard your engine requires, then compare that to what the product states. It should be stated in your handbook. For everyday use, I can't see anything wrong with it. If it was sub standard, I'm certain Repco would never put their name on it. I use the Nulon 5W-30 fully synthetic. Why ?, Because it's a known quantity with many years of research and development, it meets and exceeds my engine's requirement and it's the only oil I've been using since day one, so I just stuck with it. I'm not one who likes to mix products. That's just my OCD, but in reality any name brand oil is fine, just make sure it's suitable.- 1

2013 camry Atara R oil change
I know its been a long tome since the post, but I just wanted to give an update and thank for all the helpful comments. As I am allowed to do mechanical work where i live I have had to rely on others. Since I had that problem with the oil being used in the engine, I have started buying the oil myself and getting a mechanic to do the change, that way I know what is going into it. My car is now at 178000, and the car has not used a drop of oil. So, I dont know what that garage put in my car back then for it to suddenly use oil, but i have not used a drop of oil since. So warning to othere who also have to rely on mechanics to do there work. -

MCV36R Camry radiator fans not coming on, slowly getting hot
Luckily it is an AC optioned car because the Cooling fan will switch on and cycle for the AC to maintain the cabin temperature, and by virtue of this action it acts as a surrogate cooling aid for your engine's cooling system by drawing air through the radiator to help the heat exchanger or condenser reject heat for efficient operation of your AC. Naturally, when you're AC is not in use, your problem is still there, which I still think it to be the water temp sensor. I'm not sure of it's location but if the info provided by Michael indicates this, then yes, I'd go after that before anything else. He also mentioned to check the thermostat, but I don't think that would yield much for what is happening here. The thermostat doesn't govern the fans as such, but only regulates the flow of water at a given temperature to help maintain a normal operating temp for the engine. Thermostats rarely go bad. Sensors do though. We'll wait and see what you find. I'd be interested to see the outcome.
