the very brief story

i attempted with friends to install a new DVD / TV deck in my car

We couldn’t do it and seemly Stuffed up a lot of things

I took the car to a Car Audio Installer and they installed the deck and got it working

They found the power cables going to the DECK were dead and ran a new cable to the deck giving it power

Now every time you turn the car of, POWER IS GONE and i cant use the key locking etc

The deck also resets, the tacho goes crazy and needles move all around before settling down after a few seconds, the clock resets etc etc

Does anybody have a solution to this problem without emptying my pocket?

PLEASE HELP ASAP

I live in Sydneys North SHore ... so somebody close would be great

i bet u its sumthin real simple... i could'v taken a look BUT.... i live in the southwest... and newer cars r a little complicated...

They found the power cables going to the deal were dead and ran a new cable to the deck giving it power

"deal"???

i think it'd be best if u'd pickup the yellowpages n ask for quotes n stuff

they've probably used an incorrect wire for the ground instead of grounding it to the body etc.

The power wires to the deck would have been dead due to a blown fuse.

if the ground wire was connected to a wire with power in it then that would just start blowin fuses n the deck wont even work

The power wires to the deck would have been dead due to a blown fuse.

very possible... but then again it can be many other factors

Thanks for the input

i’m taking the car to an auto electrician tomorrow

it’s strange because the deck retains settings etc when the car i switched off but everything else such as the power central locking, tacho, air con settings, clock all gets reset....

Thanks again people

unfortunately its my fault for he F*kup as i only took it to the audio installer after id attempted to install it ...

the auto electrician is going to give me a special rate so its actually cheaper than using the audio place i used .....
