hey guys, i just got me springs fitted yesterday but when i was driving today, i can hear clunking sounds from the front right wheel whenever i brake slowly or hit a rough surface. at first i thought it was the tools rolling around in the boot, but i fixed them thats not it. any idea guys?

check that the nuts on the top if the strut tower are tightened properly.

ie the retaining nut on the strut itself, not the the 3 that hold the strut pillow top in place.

yeah, they are tight, won't budge anymore

could it be because i haven't gotten a wheel alignment?

Not a wheel alighnment issue. I had a simular sound, thought it was my suspension but it turns out one of my exhaust mounts came loose and clunked around over every bump.

hmm, i dunno man, only started hearing it after getting the springs plus my exhaust mount is only couple of months new

i seem to hear it more when i slowly brake and go over speed humps or pedestrians

It might be similar to what Russ (LTS60) had. I think it turned out that the brake hose wasn't mounted correctly and the hose would slap against the strut. Try contacting him about it.

Yes dave, It was a break hose because I didnt have nothing to mount it on my coilovers. Zip ties fixed the problem.

It could also be bushes on your frontend. I'd get that checked out, too.

I had that exact problem. However mine was a sway bar bracket that had cracket. Not hard to check

my bro in law found out what's causing the noise. its actually the springs. the springs are so close together that they actually touch causing them to grind to one another. i had a look at the springgs and the actual paint was worn and i could see the metal bit. what i did was wrapped the worn part of the spring with a rubber tubing, took it for a test drive and voila, the noise is gone. this is a temporary fix until i get me self some pedders.
