What problems have you had?

I have to say my January 07 Presara with just 8,000km on the clock is proving to be a real pleasure to own and drive.

I've not encountered anynoise from my dash after leaving the car in the sun for hours in the heat of the day.

Mind you the cars not 100% though.

- I've had minor condensation in both front headlamps, but the moisture evaporated entirely and I've no means of showing a dealer that there's anything wrong, so I'm just keeping a close eye on them.

- I also have an anoying noise which I believe to be coming from the roof lining. It creaks or cracks whenever I enter or leave a drive way which is at an angle higher than the roadway. My driveway is accessed by one of those curved gutters which you need to approach at an agle in any car else the impact of two wheels at one time even at 4-5km/hr is too harsh.

- I do find that if i turn the air conditioning on with the fan at maximum the centre air vent tends to make a minor rattle noise, but i suspect I've somehow collected a leaf in the air duct fom parking the car under a tree. I'll mention it to Toyota in due course and I guess I'll find out then, but like i said its only noticable with the fan on full blast which i need only do for a minute or two after leaving it in the hot sun for an hour or two.

Clearly these problems aren't something I'm up in arms about, but they will definately make the list when I finally bring the car in for it's first service. I just cannot be bothered going through the hassel of leaving the car with a dealer over minor issues like these so I'll wait another 6 months probably before I reach the 15,000km mark to have the issues tended to.

As for Toyota quality and reliability, I have to say it rates really well with me. My father only buys Toyota's for his staff as company cars and they always seem to get neglected especially once they get +2 or 3 years in age. I've driven all of them at some stage and they never seem to miss a beat. The oldest and worst is a 2003 Avalon on the fleet which is used to travel interstate regualarly (often with a trailer in tow), its fast approaching 350,000km and I'm astounded with how quitet the car is in every respect even the engine at idle. The car has never broken down to date despite being poorly maintained and I doubt very much other makes would prove as reliable.

I regret your having so much trouble with your Aurion, but stick it out I'm sure once the issues have been tended to you'll come to appreciate just how good it really is.

Best of Luck.

My August 07 Presarra with 3K also has this "Leaf sound" when the fan is at max,

I throught it was a leaf too, But now I'm not sure especially now that some one else has the same noise.

I'm due to take it in for the 1st free service next week, I'll mention it then.

Any one else have this sound when fan is a Max?

I was just wondering if the new Camry suffers the same problem ?

Does any one know.

I was a passenger in an Aurion AT-X just yesterday and I thought I'd turn up the fan to test the "Leaf Sound" a number of us are experiencing and hey presto there it was.

I honestly thought that my car had picked up a leaf, but thanks to you guys telling me its afetcing your cars aswell it now seems the noise is common place.

In both my Presara and the AT-X I tested the noise only originates from the centre air vent. Is this the case for all of you encountering the "Leaf Noise" problem?

I have the same problem in my Prodigy. As mentioned before it only seems to happen when the fan is turned to the max. I also noticed that it's coming from the centre air vent passenger side. If you adjust leaver horizontally, the noise disappears. This could be worth a try for a temporary fix.

Not sure what it involves to fix this permanently. I wouldn't mind getting it fix if it's not a major job. If it requires the dealer to have the car for the whole day or more and they have to disassemble the dash, it's not worth the effort. Besides, it's only happening when the air is turned to the max.

I have had a few (minor but annoying) problems with my ZR6...

The Leaf Sound.

First time the service team said they "removed a leaf"... sorry but I dont think so. The second time I went back the tech pulled the vent/clock/speed alert assembly out of the dash in front of my eyes and poked around a bit behind it. When I returned to pick it up he said that he tried another assembly in the car with the same result. He diagnosed this: that when the vents are left in the centre neutral position they are loose in the fitting, hence (with mine) any fan speed above 30% will rattle the louvres. The work around is to leave them deflected slightly...seems to solve the rattle.

He added this also, that the assembly is on order from Japan and might leave the manufacturer in December, so we should see it in the new year.

My advice is this (for what its worth) - keep on top of your service team...insist that they send a problem report to Japan. This does two things

1. Raises the issue at the decision making level - seems Toyota Australia dont decide anything concerning these issues

2. It gets you on the list for action - it was implied by the tech I spoke to that car problems are dealt with in the order the problem reports are lodged with Japan.

Squeaks and Rattles

I get a reaction from the dash every time I go over a bump...not bad enough to warrant pulling the dash out in their opinion. I can live with it if it doesnt get any worse.

The armrest used to squeak really badly - has fixed itself.

The glove box doesnt seem to shut very securely and could be a source of rattles.

Tranmission Flare

As posted elsewhere, transmission flare has been logged and sent to Japan, so Im waiting for them to make a decsion and fix it. Therefore everyone who has this problem needs to get their dealer to send a report to Japan

All up the car is great to own and drive. I get a detail every time it goes there, so they are making an effort to keep me happy with the service. Time will tell if these things are resolved in my favour but we can all help each other with the common things by making sure they are reported to Japan via the dealership.

kinda sounds like the seat isnt bolted on tightly.

anyone expericing the same problem?

I've got this sometimes but actually the seat belt, not the seat - I just pull the seat belt lock up and ok.

Our local Toyora has also reported the issue, so this is good. Is yours between 3&4th gear ?

They said that if it had to be fixed it "may" have to go to Sydney to be fixed (Terry Shields Toyota who specialise in Toyota Transmissions), so that may mean a week or so. Will see what they say.

In the mean time I have a gaping hole where the raido use to be. It had to be sent to FujutsuTen to be fixed/replaced.

Other than that, all seems well with my car.

I thought i had this problem at one stage as well.

It turned out to be the seat belt. The buckle is not sitting up top of the belt cleanly; instead its at an agle resting on the seat as well as the pillar which results in the rattle noise.

Yeah got my Zr yesterday and noticed the same problem backing out of my dodgey steep driveway.

Though I didnt get the Leafy fan problem as other suggested,

But mannnnn, the car is so high lol, cant wait to lower it and put some nice rims :).

Since the Aurion and Camry are so similar are these problems occuring in the Camry as well??

my passenger seat (zr6 seats) make a funny electric noise when moved forward compared to the driver seat also the middle console sometimes rattles when you rest your left leg when driving the car. everything is well apart from those 2 noises im happy :) no leaf noises from the aircon at all. going for its first service very soon so i should get those checked out. also im going to ask if they can remove my top speed limiter. i havent reached 240kmh and over yet as im going to go for it after the service.

lol good luck on both accounts for getting it removed and hitting over 240km/h (I expect you would do the sensible thing and taking it to a space shuttle landing strip?), should aim for 300km/h and then you can claim to feel the speed of an F1 driver..... Richard Hammond will be proud of you ;).

it was scary enough hitting 220-230km on a performance vehicle (Skyline R34 with alot of handling mods) I cant imagine on a lumbering family car! (stock)

Yes i did this legally.. NT only put limits on there open road not long ago :)

Your skyline r34 must of been ****.. :P

your so funny that you dont know that stock to stock aurion is more reliable than r34 at high speeds. if you got the balls bring your r34 to the freeway and see the result for yourself.

r34s are ****. ive youve seen 240 on the aurion it should kick in a bit after that. removing the limiter is the easiest thing. just gotta have spare time to get it done. also need a cam to record and post for the idiots that think limiter removal is hard.

Well i thought i would pop back and let all know what progress so far.

After 4 days in the dealer the remote control problem was fixed, finally. But now the Air conditioner is not working properly and after a 25km drive in 27deg heat the inside of the car finally cooled down. If i drive the car at 60km/hr the air conditioner is not cold at all, the only time it it cool is at high RPM! So i need to drive around in 2nd or 3rd to cool the car down - WTF!! So here we go again, back to the dealer for the 7th time and so far 11 days and counting.

There is also creeking and cracking around the radio area and where the clock is now no doubt contributed to pulling the entire dash out previously as once you pull things apart they are never the same.

After responses from Toyota they simply wiped their hands clean of the problem and reffered it back to the dealer who would rather sell icecreams then change a car over. And yes, the dealer is Jarvis Toyota at Tonsley Park, SA so for all you Adelaide people, avoid them as they dont do pre-deliveries properly (you paid for it remember) and they take your money and don't give a s-h-i-t.

I still reinterate that this car is a heap of s-h-i-t lemon no matter what the views of others are like and as mentioned i wont be buying another (Toy)ota again. I have just had it with this car.
