I've just bought a 2005 Tarago with 94,000km's on it and I'm very happy with it.

Don't worry too much about mechanical dramas with it. A lady I know who drives full time nights cabbing just traded her tarago with 900,000km's on it. Always run on petrol (never got it converted to lpg) She traded it for another tarago as the Toyota service guys told her it was going to start costing her money!

I'm running mine on BP Ultimate Unleaded since buying it and it runs like a dream, I get good power out of it and reasonable mileage.
