how much would it cost to get a respray?

hey guys,

I've been quoted $4000 to have my car resprayed black, is that a good price or what? seems little expensive,whats the average price?

Or could someone recommend another shop?

Just be aware you get what you pay for. If you get a cheap job don't expect the paint to look good for much over 2 years. Cost also depends on if you are getting matallic or any other fancy paint.

To bring the costs down you could offer to strip the car and just have them spray it and you then put it back together afterwards (windows and all).

yeah my friend is a spraypainter and thats what he quoted me. And then car colour atm is red with a white bonnet.

Is he giving you the full kit and kaboodle engine bay respray as well?

I'd jump at $4K if it's a trusted shop.

4K is cheap for a respray though. Depends on what level of finish you want.

personally though i wouldn't choose black, i mean you could go outside the box with it.

the only reason i say that is because its a struggle to keep black cars clean.

That sounds like a really good deal if they are going to do a good solid job for that amount. But black i am going to have to agree that ey they might be a nice car but they a extra car you have to keep extra clean and you can see everylittle mark that you might make on it accidently make on the car.

Not sure if i'm right here (feel free to correct) but don't most respray joints charge a little extra for doing black because it can be such a bitch to spray on? 4k is pretty good though, I got a quote once for a respray in black and I was qoted $5k, and that was a cash only job too. Just be sure your going to stick with your car if your going respray would hate to spend that much and be sick of it in a couple of years.

But yea might be able to get your mate to do it a bit cheaper in another colour...
