Just a heads-up for you all, as of the 1st of March, all non-TRD dealers will become TRD dealers. So, if you're wanting to buy TRD parts, or a TRD Aurion or HiLux, you'll be able to buy them from any dealer as of tomorrow! Knock yourselves out! :yahoo:

Toyota possibly not selling as many TRD's as they thought?

LOL I wonder :whistling: 60k for a warmish Aurion and after seeing the HiLux effort things are looking doooowwwwnnn

That's the question we ask ourselves everyday Jase...

The rally cars are only TRD Corollas because Neal Bates Automotive built them virtually from the ground up to be weapons. Toyota give them money and say "here, make us look good".

exactly all the running gear was stripped out and a gt4 driveline put in

maybe trd could take a leaf out of his book and produce something that has a similar concept in terms of driveline

if it wasnt in danger of overweighting the front end they could try fit in the blown six make the suspension decent and youd have a winner for sure.

toyota seems to be staying close to its sporty whitegoods persona the trd hilux was WEEEEEEEAKKK! lets add a bodykit and supercharger and hope it looks more exciting sorry take it back drop a 2uz in it factory 20's and a slightly less garish bodykit then try again

Yes it's not like the formula of hotting up your highest selling model is not already a proven success (re Mitsubishi with the Lancer, VW with the Golf, Subaru with the Impreza and so on).

They could make two models with performance being the differnece a TRD Corolla with AWD (maybe) and a slightly warmed engine and uprated suspension and a TRD Sportivo Corolla with AWD and either a Turbo or Supercharger. Surely that would sell rather than the difference just being some luxury features

if the trd aurion had awd, it would be selling like cupcakes. i know it would cost them more to build the thing but are they happy with the sales of trd right now? doubt that and they have to fit awd on that thing any time soon if they want to boost up sales or atleast drop the price down because not a lot of people would buy that thing. too much power through the front wheels. hilux sells very well and would do good with the trd goodies but that depends on the price again and corolla definately needs to be tuned by trd. makes more sence.

have you driven a TRD Aurion? ie flogging the guts out of it and pushing it to the limit, the sort of driving that's not easy to do with a salesman beside you...

It doesn't have too much power through the front wheels if you're used to driving a moderately powerful FWD.

The handling and traction control is fantastic.

If AWD was implemented I dont think it would help sales at all, the performance figures would drop considerably (extra weight, extra drivetrain loss) and the price would go up on an already expensive car. The only advantage AWD would give it is in the Marketing department so they could say "AWD". Not that it helped the magna's at all.

Got to agree with rollamods on that one. Aurion is a nice looking car and certainly does have some punch. A friend of mine took one for a test drive and was very surprised at just how good it handled, stopped and behaved itself for as front wheel drive with 240kw.

As for the Hilux and seeing one in the flesh at the motor show sitting in the corner looking oh so similiar to a stocko I went over and opened the door and put the bonnet up. Don't think the sales people liked it but within 5 minutes of doing it there were quite a number of people coming and having a look under the bonnet at the S/C 4.0 V6. They would go very well but visually Toyota has missed the mark somewhat in making the car look distinctive from base models.

Unfortunately for Toyota they are still trying to build cars that are somewhat senior citizen friendly in the looks and practicality dept. They produce "sports" models that in my opinion are watered down for the Australian market that are easy to drive for any sort of person young or old. Hence the thing that makes me laugh about Toyota building "sports" models with an automatic option!!!!

Funny how any of Honda's sport models (S2000, DC2 Type R's and the like) don't have an auto option??? Yes the Sportivo corolla doesn't come in an auto but it in itself is still a long way from being an out and out sports model.

It's close but with the 4wd stance and so so handling it's still pitched at the average Joe who just wants leather and fancy options over the base model with lil more power......

if toyota make the TRD hilux like the one Top Gear used in their Arctic challenge, that would be something to look at
