Aurion Brake fluid
I believe they originally had DOT3 as the specified fluid and not soon after DOT4 was introduced, DOT3 & 4 are compatible with eachother whereas DOT5 isn't. So DOT3 is correct as that's what the reservoir states I believe but as of now DOT4 is probably recommended instead as it is superior. Although after saying that I have no experience with the 50 series so not sure what's suggested for them. Can mix and match DOT3 & 4 so you will have no issues either way- 1

Aurion Brake fluid
I bought 'Repco brand' Dot 3 fluid the other day. Then later, went on their website where it said it wasn't compatible with my Aurion. I've messaged Repco, waiting for a response. Anybody able to comment ? -

Toyota prado 2018 Rattling noise?
To update to my previous post concerned my 2016 Prado having the same vibration, I have managed to have the problem fixed through a Toyota Service Centre. The problem was a worn cool air inlet, Part Item Code 1797130012 costing $86.23, which was replaced and there is no more vibration or rattle. Hope this might help someone solve their problem. Cheers Warren -

Old School Isolator switch
Hi all, New to the Prado forum. Apparently my new Prado is arriving mid Oct to early Nov and Ive been thinking of how I can minimise having it stolen or keys scanned to start and steal (somthing Im well aware of) To the brains trust, is there anything stopping me from getting a wiring diagram and simply tracing an appropriate wire and placing a simple toggle switch inline. We used to do this all the time with a switch under hidden away to eliminate starting. With todays CBUS and electronics I know its not as easy to isolate things, but say I tapped into the fuel pump circuit and manually turned this on or off.....or am I just being OTT and just ensure Ive got good insurance. What do others do to protect their assets as this is my first ever new car and as no one would ever want to steal my current Holden Frontera (25years and 360K) so Ive never had to give it much thought. Thanks -

Current Toyota Quality and Longevity
This topic has been on my mind for quite a few years now. Certainly been "feeling" that cars have become more expensive and less reliable particularly since COVID pandemic. Also increasing govt. standards particularly for fuel economy, emissions etc. have their role in adding cost to the vehicle manufacturer. Extended maintenance intervals [refer sales and marketing] are appealing to the new car buyer both for cost and convenience. Maintenance intervals as proposed by the engineers is quite different. Market has changed particularly those prepared to perform the DIY especially for regular and preventative maintenance. Nice to have thoughts and opinions supported by facts or proven expert opinion. -
