2005 Aurion Sportivo gearbox problems (AUTO)

I have a 05 Aurion just out of warrenty and about 5 weeks ago it started of sunding like a worn CV it would make a thud noise when i was coasting along so went 2 toyota and they said nothing was wrong??? then last week the gearbox would thud and make a bit of a griding noise when it went from park to drive so i went to toyota again and they said that it would need a new/reco box its only done 45K so they said they would still cover it still but does any other poeple have that problem? or something similar???

Are you reffering to a Camry, an Avalon or an 06 Aurion (Which would still be in warranty as none are out of warranty yet)?

I didnt think they made Aurion in 2005. Can you post a pic of your car, I would love to see what an 05 Aurion looks like

The Aurion was unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show in 2006 and production commenced later in 2006.

There is no way you could have a 2005 Aurion. The current Camry did not commence production until 2007.

You'd better check the compliance plate for build date, located on the front drivers side door. Post a couple of photos also . . .

      Front Wheel Hub Bearings...

      Yes Sir indeedy. I must say that the engine is pristine, even for 170K old now. The engine bay and engine still presents like new. The only parts I've ever replaced were the serpentine belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. It's had two batteries and the routine oil and oil/air filters. Coolant has also been done. Plugs are still factory and showing no sign of any misfire issue. Original alternator, air conditioning compressor etc. It's never really had any invasive repairs. I must say that Toyota really sharpened their pencils when they designed the 50 series. I believe it to be the best of the last of the most reliable Toyota's ever made. The Camry V6 which replaced the Aurion after production of the Aurion ended. in my opinion, doesn't hold up to the 50 series Aurion. I'm happy to be correct on that but I am confident that my 50 series Aurion will see less issues than that of the XV70 Camry V6 and sadly the newer cars are just getting worse in terms of quality. 2017 was the peak of Toyota Quality in my opinion. 😄😄

      Red Liquid In Catch Can

      Fuel, red or any other colour it has no business being in the catch-can. A catch-can is used to capture engine oil vapour etc.

      Brake issues

      No growling, no noise. Very smooth. No hard braking either. This is also why I was so amazed when I found chunks missing out of the pads.

      South Africa Vs Japan Build

      I have a 2003 corolla Plated South Africia , and the throttle body needs replacing , l have contacted several wreckers and when l tell them it is plated South Africia built , no one seems to have anything , is there a difference ? between a Japanese built to a South Africian built Corolla ? in 2003

      Vibration

      Hi all, I have a 2008 Kluger FWD that is vibrating under load , new engine mounts , new plugs , Trans service ,can coast ok then under load vibrates. Any thoughts ? Trans?

      200 series Sahara Pre-collision system malfunction

      Members 1 First Name:Peter Toyota Model:Landcruiser Sahara Year: 2017 Location: Western Australia Posted January 21, 2024 We have the same problem. 2017 Landcruiser Sahara. I have been to a dealership who said they fixed it. They thought it was a wiring connector malfunction next to the windscreen rear view mirror. The problem returned after 6 months. They showed me how to reset the "limp mode" when it happens. Close all doors. Turn on engine. Turn off engine. Lock the car using the key switch. Unlock the car using the key switch. Repeat this two (2) more times. (total of 3 times). The system resets, the messages disappear, the car is out of "limp mode". This is great, except at the moment the problem returns about 20 minutes later. Yes, it is frustrating but worst of all, depending on who you talk to, dealers included, everyone has a different solution, but nobody has the final solution. At least, I have been told that I can keep driving the car whilst this error is displayed as long as I am aware that the pre-crash system won't work. I must say that otherwise, I think this car is an absolute beauty. Does anyone have a magic answer? Peter Lanski, did you get a magic remedy from anyone? Have had the same issue, takes out cruise including of course adaptive, lane departure, Does not derate the engine, Not sure I've done this properly being 1st time on this forum club. Pete.B. WA

      New to Toyota Owners Club

      Hi all Just thought I post my 2000 Prado 3.4L, 5 Speed Manual, 352xxx kms, LSD, Dual tanks (not the SUB pump into main) Still got some suspension work to do on it and tyres but goes well. Just installed 2x solar panels on the roof cage (still have a 3rd as a fold out) and future upgrades is wheels, winch bullbar and exhaust. It's just gonna be more of a tourer/mild 4WD so not gonna throw too much at it Cheers

      2000 Prado ebay power steering rack

      Evening guys, Got myself a 2000 Landcruiser Prado and slowly attending to the neglected suspension but I noticed after changing my inner rack ends, it's been leaking (not sure for how long) I know how to change these racks (not impossible but maybe awkward) and I know it can be cheaper maybe getting new seals and getting a mechanic to do it but just wondering if anyone has had any luck with a new power steering rack off Ebay (the $250-$300 ones). I've read reviews and they don't seem to have any negative results and obviously the Prados are also overseas (Tecomas). Just alot easier for me to change on my own then to go without a car (as possible chance, it be my home on wheels if getting evicted) Cheers
