Kluger body paint

We have a Kluger KXS that is painted with the Tidal Blue paint (paint code 8T7). I need to do some touching up of a couple of scratches (got keyed by some idiot at the supermarket) but cannot find the correct paint. We were given a tin of paint by Toyota when we first bought the car last year but it does not match. In fact the discrepency is quite noticeable. Went back to the Toyota dealership and showed them and was told that this was the colour and if it did not match then I should try somewhere else for the paint.

Just wondering if anyone had managed to locate anywhere in Australia that actually stocked the latest paints for toyota models apart from the Toyota dealerships.

First try to shake well tin of paint you got with car. apply small dot on paint on some hidden spot (lower part of skirt).Give it 15 minutes to dry. It should match.

If still wrong it should easily go off with thinners.

You mentioned your car was keyed.............first try to buff it of and see how it comes.Just touching up scratch can make it looking worse..............

You better be very careful using thinners on paint, you could end up ruining your paint if you dont know what youre doing.

Thinners will not affect paint if done wise..................wipe fresh paint with soft cloth and thinners..........as soon thinners are wiped, wipe over with wet shammy or similar.

Do you really think cars come spotless from factory ?

Hi, another option is to go to someone like Colour Dent (or whatever they're called) I have a guy who has detailed my last 4 cars; everything from polishing to painting and filling stone chips etc. Usually, what he does comes to less than $100

I was amazed, the first time I went there, he had a brand new Subura Outback and was spraying the bumper. He said that dealers back into poles, truck drivers bottom out the cars getting them off the truck and so on.

So, even a car on the showroom floor can already have some painting and filling done. :whistling:
