yeah best bet is to talk to a couple of tyre shops about profiles which are suitable for your application. as for brands, nankang are about the worst you can buy. they don't grip in the dry and are woeful in the wet. if you want something cheaper but something which actually has a bit of grip try a brand called 'simex' or 'firenza' or if money's not an object check out the dunlop sp series or perhaps good year etc.

well if u are after a mid market tyres, then these are just some of the many brands;

hankook, toyo and kuhmo. toyo teo plus and hankook k105's are popular.

top brands would be the popular oem tyres;

dunlop, michelin, goodyear, continental, pirelli, bridgestone, yokohama, falken

brands u would want to miss are:

nankangs, BLUE STREAK (please avoid this one!), clear, nexen and so on....

I have Falken ZE329's fitted to my car, they have been on since I bought it.

They are aimed at the performance market and have a silica compound for improved wet handling but have very little compromise in smoothness and noise suppression. I'm due to replace my front two tyres - have been quoted between $95 and $115 for the ZE329's.
