That's alrite TKG. I will post the model number and get the details from the Northfield guys. You can then approach your local sound specialist to see if you are able to obtain the same model.

Thanks, I have also discovered the following in my searches

http://www.mp3yourcar.com.au/?webpage=prod...p;model=Kluger3

Anyone know if this will work?

Hi All

I have had a SoundLinQ2 Model SL2i installed in my Grande for about 4 months now and it works quite well. Control of tracks and selection of playlists via the steering wheel buttons is straight forward and the sound quality is good.

I tracked this unit down via http://www.advancedice.com.au/product_deta...number=10018sou after asking VaisTech about their Aus distributor.

There are lots of products on those. I must check it out for sure. I wanna link the DVD player to the audio system. Currently I am using the FM transmitter which works but not the most ideal.

I had a supposedly decent FM transmitter unit (a Belkin) but kept having to retune it inside the Kluger. I didn't have that issue in my Prado. It was becoming annoying and perhaps dangerously distracting.

I haven't considered the need for linking in the DVD player - the unit I have doesn't have any other inputs beyond the iPod connector which is in the glovebox.

The other feature I like is that the nag screen gets wizzed off after a short period as if I had pressed the button. :D

LGF, you sure?

I am looking at the manual and there are 2 sets of aux input, one set on the right of the box is connected to ipod (and printed iPod on the box), the square connector in the other side is for the controller (I think), and both square connector and the RCA lines comes into one as a iPod connector (prob the one in your glove box. There is another rectangle connector presumably going to the CD changer of the Toyota unit.

That leaves a set of red and white that is not used! On the left of the iPod RCA plugs.

Perheps if you get a 3.5mm plug to RCA lines there, you can connect the DVD to the headunit. That is what I wanna to do.

However, there is still a line and the kids will still can damage it. I prob need to put it under the lining and thru the B pillar and back to the unit or something like that. Need professional help I think.

Is there wireless solution to that???? I am sure this day and age a 3.5mm plug - Blue tooth - RCA will exist!

Hi Taka

I had my unit professionally installed, didn't get to lay eyes on the box of tricks and so I can't be sure - i.e. I am out of my depth fairly quickly.

The hardcopy manual I was given matches http://www.vaistech.com/manuals/Manual_SL2i_v444.pdf - am I missing somthing as I can't see the RCA connectors you mention?

Ok guys.. Spoke to the sound people.. The interface's name is SoundLinQ (Model: SLI). Sales rep advised me that anyone could get it off them and they will be able to send it interstate to any interested parties.

The SLi model has the AUX input, the SL2i loses that extra input but gains better noise cancelling and expanded browsing for 5th gen Nav (not sure what that means)

There is another device SL2Vi that plays videos, would be interested to find out if this unit works on Australian Grande head unit.

http://www.vaistech.com/product_comparison.php

EDIT:

Just found out SL2Vi not compatible with Grande head unit.

from mp3yourcar.com.au

'Additional Info

This product is now available and can be purchased online. It is not compatible with the current model navigation unit found in Kluger Grande, Camry Grande, Aurion Presara & Aurion ZR6.

Supported iPods

Fifth Generation iPod Video, Third Generation Nano, iPod Touch, iPod Classic.

All these model number makes me so confused. Yeah I prob was looking at the SLi model not SL2i...

PaulG,

Do you think only SLi work for Grande models? hmmm... I will trade off the menu business or the AUX input anyway. I am not really a iPod person and I have the 4th gen 20G iPod which is less than 1/2 filled... (shameful)

Hey fella's for what it is worth i have a new camry grande and have been searching for the same tye of interface and after many hours searching the web discovered that if you do a search on ebay for toyota ipod or toyota interface a list will appear. They are all pretty much compatible and connect to the cd changer connection on the back of the head unit. This will allow you to control your ipod via the steering wheel as well as the touch screen on the head unit. The best site so far for toyota additions that I have found is http://www.oemvalue.com/installcamry07.htm#iPod scroll to the bottom of the page and follow the other links. This is a really handy site and I have used it for installing a reversing camera etc.

There is also other information for most Toyota head units.

Good luck
