Question about battery

Hi guys

Recently I found that there are some white/blue powder around the battery terminals (-ve), does it mean that I need a better battery? I clean the terminal before and the powder building up about a day after I cleaned it and I got told that some petroleum jelly can prevent this happen.

Anyway the following is my system in the car and some test of the battery, please give me some idea if I need to change anything of the system.

-4G power cable (60 amp fuse) to distro. block, will change the fuse from 60 amp to 100 amp soon.

-8G cable (20 amp fuse) to Alpine amp 2chx50w RMS and has 1x20 amp fuse

-8G cable (40amp fuse) to Alpine Mono amp 1chx200w RMS and has 2x20 amp fuses

Engine off:

Battery - 12.89v

1st Alpine amp - 12.79v

2nd Alpine amp - 12.67v

Engine on:

Battery - 13.81v

1st Alpine amp - 13.80v (+ve, -ve); 12.58v (Remote, -ve)

2nd Alpine amp - 13.72v (+ve, -ve); 12.53v (Remote, -ve)

thanks guys.

Sounds like everything is working fine in the way of voltages...

That blue powder and it's corrosion... Easiest way to clean it off is with boiling water... Petrolium Jelly or some battery terminal protection spray will help to prevent it coming back again...

It all seems pretty fine to me, the only thing I'd think about upgrading is your earth system. Run a piece of 0 gauge from a good, solid chassis mounting point to the negative of the battery, then a piece of 4 gauge from the engine block to the same chassis earth point.

It should lift your voltages slightly at the amps.
