i'm getting my clutch adjusted in a couple of weeks and have been warned that the clutch will sit up alot higher

is it that bad, i am hoping that a smooth shift especially between first and second will make up for the new clutch position

ull get used to it after few days

u wont even remember how it used to feel ;)

I had my clutch adjusted by Nunawading Toyota at my 10K service. It actually lowered my pedal, and made gear changes smoother.

Well after i had mine readjusted, it did sit alot higher and the clutch enagged quicker However, i think it went back to its original condidion and i cant get smooth changes in high revs anymore. Back to mr toyota i think :(

Any updates from you, Blue_Stivo or ZEEROLLA?? :P

Not yet mate, i'm still waiting for a Service Manager to contact me.. its been a while and i might not wait. I'm also thinking of getting a new clutch and TOM's flywheel fitted soon bcos i can't be bothered lobbying around with Toyota anymore, plus i've already got a TOM's flywheel lying around.

Anyway if anything comes up soon i will probably still consider letting Toyota have another look. Will kep this thread updated.

Just a quik question, I am currently in "discussion" with the service manager from where I bought my Sportivo on the subject of clucth adjastment and also a whistle the car produces. They are adamant that these hydralic clutches can not be adjusted in anyway. If there is an adjustment - via the master cylinder - then will this be a one off or will there be a continual need to adjust - cause I am just sick of it all!.

Also , mine is afflicted with the whistle - reviewing the content on this site I understand that to fix - just adjust the brakes - but the dealer tells me that these brakes are not adjustable in a any way. Anywone have any further info on this.

WTF

Double WTF!

Take it to another dealership, I would assume that these guys have NFI!

The clutches ARE adjustable.

Had mine done at Lexus Indro. My pedal sits higher indeed! It takes a little getting used to but it definitely improves the jamming problem at low and high revs. Improves the notchiness problem (but does not remove it). When I queried Lexus about it - my mechanics name was Val (I think) he indicated that the height of the pedal was a direct result of following the Technical News Flash to the letter.

Any updates on this issue???

took the car in - the dealer refused to touch the clutch and said it was acceptable - I asked if the clutch mechansim was at least checked to spec - he advised no - reiterated that the the clutches are self adjusting and nothing could be done. Basically palmed me off.

I note that that on the sportivo that I test drove (had about 13km on the clock) the gear changes were almost featherlight, friction point was were you expect it to be, really nice to drive and is why I bought the car. My car is quite tight and 3rd gear is notchy, friction point started mid way. The dealer said it is a (1100km) new car and that it should soften up with time.

I've given up on that dealer, next service - not sure whether to take it to Chatswood or Sydney City - I will ask them to fix.

I wish I had better news!

Take it to Sydney City Toyota Camperdown. Their customer service is top notch compared to the original dealer that I bought my car from. They did my clutch adjustment without me even asking...

Just to remind some of you that if the clutch adjustment is done properly, it should sit up much higher than normal. If that's not the case for you, it means they didn't do the adjustment according to the field fix.

This is what I was told by the tech from Toyota HQ who took care of my concerns and enquiries.

it's only a labour job that takes 5 mins to 1/2 hour depending on if they know what they are doing or not... they would make it cost $60 or so I'd say

Hey all!!!

Wed Wocket went in for it's 10K service today, and had the Clutch Adjustment done...

QUESTION - Who else has had this done, and did you end up with the clutch pedal up around you ears....???

I have noticed that the clutch pedal itself actually sits alot higher than it used to (where it used to be fairly level with the brake and accellerator) and now the clutch needs to travel a longer distance to hit the pressure point...

It's always like that. I'm used to that clutch position anyway (from my Escort group N track car). Give it some time and you'll get used to it. It's much better for shifting quicker (less crunching), as it compresses the flywheel more this way. Closer to the floor = less compression and more chance of crunching shifts at high rpm.

Let the quicker shifts begin Azza :D

i went to nunawading toyota today i ask if i could re-adjust the clutch so it will let me into 2nd gear in high rev, and the guy asked me "how high rev u talking about" i told him 6000-8000 and he was shocked and he reokon it should not be in such high rev and change gear, he told me to let the rpm drop to 5000rpm and change gear!!!!!but i pretty much told him to shut up and just book me in , because i dont have warranty any more so i will pay for it anyway, so yeah i booked for next thursday, so u guys sure by re-adjust the clutch will improve the gear changes?? why they(dealers or toyota mechanics) all think the sportivo should not rev that high even though they know its built to rev high!!!! if i dont rev beyond 6000 at all why the hell i buy a sportivo!!!!
