I saw a new Astra yesterday and quite liked it. Bit like others though MAZ3 Megane etc. ie Big **** end.

But looks like a hot version coming.

"HOLDEN’S European affiliate Opel will unveil the Astra OPC in Geneva, the

production version of its GTC-based High Performance Concept study revealed

at the Paris show last year.

Based on the AH Astra three-door and expected in Australia next year, the

OPC derives its name from the Opel Performance Centre and features a

176kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo engine which drives the front wheels via a sixspeed

manual transmission. Claimed performance is 0-100km/h in less than

seven seconds, with a top speed of more than 240km/h.

The car has 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/45 series rubber fitted standard, with

19-inch wheels (235/35 tyres) in the design of the Paris show car set down as an

option. Disc brake diameters measure 321/278mm front/rear, Opel’s IDSPLus

chassis (Interactive Driving System) with electronic CDC (Continuous Damping

Control) is available and a wider, lower front air intake aims to impart a more

aggressive look than did the GTC.

Unimaginative sporting cues such as Recaro seats, chrome-ringed dials and

leather details are used inside, along with OPC branding."

Anyone tempted to save up to spend on the Lion brand. ?

By that time, the Toyota Corolla Sportivo Compressor will hit our shores, http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...5&hl=compressor along with the Mazda3 MPS 4WD turbo, and don't forget the current Renault Megane II sport. But one key factor is that these cars will cost tens of thousands more than our stivo's, the current astra turbo is $37k with two less doors, the Renault for $42k, and our stivo's?, less than $29K.

i doubt the OPC special would come to our shores.

we'll prolly get the 200bhp turbo version tho. i've seen it in the flesh and it looks hot. it's not quite as quick coz it has a lot more weight.

the astra G turbo that holden brought in is actually a de-specced version of the opc. it had the opc bodykit, but minus the recaros, the DTM wing mirrors, etc etc

and i suspect the reason y holden brought them in was coz at that time, the opel factory had already stopped production and was re-tooling the factory for the astra H. and those that were brought in were the leftovers. holden also brought in "limited edition" astra cabrios with different wheels and colours.

u wonder y it's limited edition, eh ;)
